Positive COVID-19 Test Result Club News Barnsley FC can confirm that one person has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus following a round of testing on Friday 5 June. Continue reading on the official site...
Let’s hope they remain asymptomatic. Also hope social distancing has been maintained. Last thing we need is squad members in quarantine.
No on the official site it says its a member of the backroom staff Going by the fact they are cleaning the superstore and box office Id guess its one of the staff that works in those areas - so hopefully the players wont be affected
I can't help wondering how many of us are (or have been) wandering around with it and will never know or even be tested.
I think I read somewhere based on antibody test results its around 5% of the population outside London and 17% of Londoners have actually had the disease so its quite a few I think there will also be a fair number of people who had some form of cough or flu who think they may have had it but dont really know as well as those who showed no or very mild symptoms who dont even suspect they may have had it
The scariest part for me is that how badly you get the disease is relative to how long you're exposed. So if you touch a surface and then touch your face etc. If you wash your hands you'll still be infected just asymptomatically or mildly.
Does this make you "immune" If this is the case the vaccine is the disease itself. We've seen heathcare workers and others with high exposure rates like bus drivers - get really bad infections. But if limited exposure can be shown to give you asymptomatically or a mild infection which then gives you furhter immunity - effectively that'sa vacine isn't it. All we need is a load of typhoid mary's to go round shaking everyone's hands - and once you shaken their hand you bob off to bed for a fortnight. That way the countries all done by July and we can head off on the raz to Benidorm for August.
I'm not saying those estimates are wrong, but at the moment I have about as much faith in estimates as I do in the tooth fairy. Percentages are the work of the devil at the best of times. Both my wife and future son-in-law both had short spells where their sense of smell was diminished. This was weeks ago, long before the loss of smell was cited as a symptom, so neither of them made any connection to Covid. That's not to say they've had it, but it does make you wonder.
Well I used to get a sixpence every time I lost a tooth so I have actually a lot more faith in the tooth fairy than anything that comes from Hancock which is where the 5% and 17% figures I quoted came from
Wishing them a speedy recovery. Let's hope the government tracing system works so everyone who's been in contact with them can isolate until they have been tested and got their result back.
All this trace system will achieve is people getting a text and downing tools at work to self isolate for a week.
Well we had better hope that the whole of the UK get one of these two billion doses in September to get life back to complete normality..... https://indianexpress.com/article/c...eca-moderna-serum-institute-of-india-6447030/
I use percentages to prove to my wife that, age-wise, she's catching me up. I'm 5 years older than her. When I was 10, she was 5, 50% of my age. When I was 20, she was 15, 75% of my age. When I was 50, she was 45, 90% of my age. And if I get to 100, she'll be 95% of my age. She's catching me up all the time.
As in all things its how they are used. Percentages are extremely valid when used properly but are prone to misuse especially if the data is specially selected. My favourite is along the lines of 13% of all road accident deaths were a result of accidents where at least 1 driver was over the drink drive limit - true statistic for 2018 it must follow that 87% of all road accident deaths involved sober driving clearly it would be much safer if we all had a few pints before setting out in the car as sober drivers are nearly 7 times more likely to be in a fatal collision than drunk ones
This is a fantastic site to show the poor use of statistics - although a bit old now... https://www.tylervigen.com/spurious-correlations
