Always wanted the Capri 2.8i but couldn't afford the insurance when I was a boy racer, got rid of a 3L Mondeo last year and although it could do 150 mph I'd still have swapped it for 2.8i Capri anytime.
Our fist family car was a blue Capri 2 Litre Automatic. My mum hit the gate post trying to park it up for my Dad one night and smashed one of the doors up. We managed to get a gold door from a scrapyard but my Dad couldn't afford a re-spray. It looked a right eyesore. A cause for more embarrassment when I was young.
I've always wanted a Capri, a 280 Brooklands would be lovely but the prices have gone mental! My favourite car I think was my 1975 Granada Coupe 3.0 Ghia. I loved it as nobody else had one and what a beast of a car! I was about 20 when I owned it and was only 2 years old when it was built! I always preferred older cars, my list includes several Mini's, 2x Mk2 Cavaliers, BMW 2002 Tii and a Jag XJ6 Sovereign. All in my late teens early 20s.
Interesting my 3.0L Pug 406 by miles the best engine I had there is just something I love about a V6 - probably never have another one though Currently I have a Jag XF R-Sport 240 awd which is a great car - its actually faster than my 406 was and a lot more economical as its a diesel - but a twin turbo 4 cyl 2l diesel just doesnt come close to a 3l petrol - Id have a new version of my Pug back in a heartbeat
Over the years had some good cars and a couple of lemons but I've got my favourite at the moment, A 1998 BMW 2.8 Automatic Convertable with leather interior, only 80k on the clock. Only on the road for 6 months then sorn for 6 months. Highly impractable but fun. I'm a 70 year old boy racer.
slightly o/t - but does anyone transfer their car registration number to any new car they buy. I think you can only use an 'old' registration number on a car that was made after the licence plate number was first issued.
Is that an Alfasud? My parents had one of those when I was young. They later upgraded to a 33. I loved the sound of those boxer engines, so recognisable!
Just been out for a walk and parked in a small car park by Frensham little Pond. When I got back to my car there were 3 Capri Mk III and one MkII in the car park all parked up together - all looked in immaculate condition - was a bit surreal obviously must be some capri lovers outing
