Just watched todays with Iain Hume Sounds like he didnt want to sign for us. Leicester f****d him over with his contract. We offered 175k ( i think thats what he said) to start with then built up to 1.2m To try and put us off he told his agent he wanted x amount a week. Hoping we would say no and he could negotiate a better deal with Leicester but we said we would pay it. He says in his entire career. Barnsleys contract was the best he has ever received
You could tell his heart wasn't in it with us. For his wages and transfer fee he was a waste of money and never reached the standard expected of him even before the Morgan incident.
There was talk at the time that we could have had Fryatt instead.. If true, would have gone for Fryatt every time..
Really, my memory of him playing for us, was he gave his all in games. Like other players, sometimes it wasn’t good enough, others,he simply had A stinker, but overall, whilst not being the most productive in terms of goals, I never got the impression his heart wasn’t with it.
Where’s this mate? It’s not been added to the Patreon app nor can I find it on the podcast app in my iPhone.
You know he played his first game for us in the second week of August and got done by Morgan in early November? He only played in 14 games in that time, and was equal top scorer with John Macken .
Is it a good episode? I haven't listened to much of the two more recent series, but I'll give that one a listen tomorrow. I was never a massive fan of Hume. I certainly wouldn't say he didn't try, I just didn't see him as an out and out striker. The alleged fee was bit steep given his goalscoring record.
Ive heard better but its not the worst. He aint forgiven Morgan and never will Morgan never tried to see how he was. He text him 8 months later to say good to see you back The thing which wound Hume up was when they 1st met again after the Incident. Hume got subbed off and Morgan put his hand out to shake and say "can you shake my hand so it looks good for cameras" so Hume walked off
Yeah mate I’m a Patreon, it’s not on my feed for some reason. Annoying really because I would’ve listened to that on tonight’s walk, instead listened to the Carlton Palmer one again.
I thought at first he was pretty poor but was a grafter & then he started to hit form & was beginning to think he could be a really good signing before the assault
Remember him as a scorer of some great goals rather than a great goal scorer. Only early days when he suffered his injury - sorry, assault - but looked a shadow of the player who’d been at Leicester.
Bump. After stuff we did for hume as a club and fans he could of had more respect. Absolute annoyed thinking about it now.
