You're not a fan of yellow then? I quite like it. :)

I wonder if there's a colour photo of that kit somewhere?

Socks, yellow socks. Oh, it's too early in the morning for me, mate! :D
I tried looking a few years ago for a photo, but had no luck.

It sort of emphasises how time has moved on. No colour photos of the kit at all. Only found out the result the next morning. Your mate couldn't ring you from the game to tell you Peachey had just scored. These days (Stu) the bloke down the road does an embarrassing little dance in his living room and he's plastered it all over your instagram feed!

First game of the 68/69 season.

We’d gone all the previous (promotion) season unbeaten at home so this was really upsetting for us youngsters

17 wins, 6 draws and no defeats. We thought Oakwell was a fortress. And along came Barrow to burst that bubble. Awful disappointment, as was finishing second behind Luton - where have we heard that before? Crewe were third and a Brian Clough managed Hartlepool went up in fourth place. If he and Peter Taylor had stayed there who knows where that little club might have ended up.

For us I thought this was the end of our brief stay in the Fourth Division, but I was wrong. We went back down during those grim days of the early 70s and might have stayed a long time. Jim Iley got things moving though and then came the Allan Clarke revolution

My first game was against Barrow, back in 1968. We lost 3-2.

Funnily enough it was my first game as well. Me and my uncle used to stand in the old Paddock area in the John Smiths stand.

Shankley managed Workington, that’s a manager they needed to hang on to.

Coaches go from Barrow up to Glasgow to watch the two big-uns, must be an expat community that came down to work the shipyards and stayed on.

I can't remember when or how I heard the news but it may have been on the night - results roundup kind of thing, although being a midweek game there can't have been many matches played. Perhaps it was Teletext - not sure. Either way I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that we had scored SEVEN away from home! I'm sure that Workington were in serious decline at that time but even so that was quite a result. The Reds have never scored seven since then, apart from in friendlies like York last season.

I think I read the score in the Daily Mirror the next day, (my Dad used to get it delivered back then). I assumed it was a misprint. There was no match report, I think I probably read about it much later.

Soccerbase has us last playing Barrow away on 31st Jan 1970 drawing 1-1 but also has us down for beating them 3-0 at home int FA Cup on Fri 30th Jan 1970.

Can anybody check these dates are reight. Can remember back to back fixtures at Chrimbo but not end of Jan unless it was fixture backlog caused by bad weather.

Without researching I am not even sure that CEEFAX/TELETEXT was operating then but, if it was, I probably read it on there. I was living in the south at that time with no access to local radio.

Has Barrow FC been promoted to make up the numbers following Bury's demise.
Or is it because either Macclesfield or Stevenage will be relegated.

(Macclesfield - winding up hearing in 12 weeks)
