We may have one but if not shouldn't we have an Admin person from the BAME community?
Lots of messages re BLM - Taking the Knee etc. - 'Admins' should come from all different backgrounds.

Yeah I think the BBS needs to bring in the Rooney Rule for a more diverse set of site admins :D

What relevance has a person's ethnicity on the administration team of a football discussion board?

I’m not being argumentative here but that’s just plain bloody daft, irrespective of someone’s colour, religion, shoe size or gender a person is valued on them as a person, if I was of a BAME background I’d find this a little belittling to be honest, it’s like saying ‘look at that poor Black guy, let’s give him a role cos all the other members are white’

It’s getting beyond a joke this now

but as you're not of BAME background why do you speak for those of a BAME heritage - you say they would find it 'belittling' - were they to become part of Admin - how do you know that?
Hundred of postings re BLM - 'taking the knee' - BAME - are you saying the voice of BAME shouldn't be heard?

Just answer the question. What relevance does it have?

But if that’s the case. Why do you assume no member of BAME posts. Cos that’s what it appears like. I’m pretty sure they’re not banned from participating.
The admins voices on here are no more relevant than the posters. Not knocking em it’s just fact. I admire their commitment to the running of the site.

No, I don't speak for them - I don't suggest what they (or anyone else) think or say.
What I'm saying is that people from different groups should be represented on this site so we can hear their perspective.

On an only slightly related subject am I the only one who struggles with the acronym BAME?
Black and minority ethnic. Black I understand. Someone would gladly say they're black. But would anyone say they are "minority ethnic"? It feels the wrong way round to me.

Yet again why do they have to be admin. To post. Admin monitor and manage the site. They don’t dictate. They may have policies on certain issues and step in if things get out of hand .

HF - if you read my OP you'll see that that I don't assume no member of BAME posts.

They are. We have straight, bi and homosexual members along with I would guess other sexualities too.
We have males and females and I wouldn't bet against there being at least one poster who identifies as neither.
We have posters from every corner of the UK and the globe including America, Australia, Korea, russia, Norway, France and God knows what other countries.
We have white posters, black posters, I imagine we have other races too.
We have OAPs, we have teenagers. We have everything in between.

This is a faceless internet forum. I have no idea what you look like, how old you are or what your race is. I don't know if you're male or female. ALL demographics have exactly the same opportunity to be represented simply by choosing to post. The ONLY thing stopping anyone from representing themselves or any group they belong to is their access to the internet and to be honest I don't think you can blame gally for that.

I've been refusing to get involved in this post all day but what on earth are you going on about here?

They don't need to be admin to share their perspective? How do you know their perspective isn't being shared already?

I understand that red Taff. But my point stands. What possible difference do you think it would make being admin and not just a regular poster. I don’t honestly get your logic.
Ps I also said that’s what it appears like.
I seriously think you are mixing up admin of a site with diversity in the workplace. Not knocking, Just saying.
