Apologies if already posted, but couldn't see it anywhere. Some of them have paid for plane to fly over the Etihad with a a banner saying "White Lives Matter Burnley" just before kick off. The aim being to provoke black players into walking off the field according to a few on Facebook/Twitter. Oh dear......... https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...s-matter-banner-manchester-city-burnley-plane Just for balance: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...nner-flown-match-against-Manchester-City.html
It’s unfortunately true. Why anyone would go to that much expense to fly a racist banner is something I can’t get my head around
To be fair to Burnley it’s absolutely nothing to do with the club players and I suspect the vast majority of their fans. I feel quite angry on their behalf.
I can only commend Burnley on the strength of their response and they had the official statement out before half time. Lifetime bans and (hopefully) people will shun them as they deserve.
Sorry, I meant the part where @Redhelen said that the original wording had SS on the end of the sentence, as if the message wasn’t bad enough.
It's stunning how many people have replied to Burnley's statement on Twitter with "dunt get why it's racist" or "white lives matter" - can these people be educated or is there truly no hope?
This is the moment that the media will get them mixed up with Barnsley again. Then we'll be to blame.
Football Daily (@footballdaily) Tweeted: " We can talk about footbal but There's something I want to talk about first, I'm ashamed, I'm embarrassed that a small group of our fans have put that around the stadium" Ben Mee on the White Lives Matter banner that flew over the Etihad tonight https://t.co/x6RyjGUZZX
