I’m truly amazed tbh. Fair play to those folk given the lack of blatantly obvious owner ambition they are buying into

Think folk thinking we'll have a good promotion season next year and maybe look forward to the league one season more than championship ones.

I've not renewed, it's hurt me not to but I can't support this business model. Great for owners finances, not for fans in my humble opinion. So the 'when we play stay away' mantra they have applies for me until they leave.

Respect both sides of this argument by the way but you either renew or don't there's no sitting on the fence with this one

I think the £249 price has a lot to do with it. Barnsley folk know a bargain when they see one. I'm not saying fan loyalty hasn't played a part, but at normal prices, even the standard early bird, I doubt so many would have coughed up. Especially with all the uncertainty around next season in L1/2.

Me too, kids football bores me, calamity all over the pitch it's not good for my stress levels, no ambition we just try to develop youth and sell if they're any good never achieve anything with that model, things need to change before me and my 2 lads return. maybe things will change next season I'll wait and see but I suspect not.

As far as I’m concerned it’s far more serious than what ambition the owners have or which league we are in. it’s whether or not we have a club next year. Football clubs cannot endure for very long under the current situation. It can surely only be a matter of time before the first club folds and I have this horrible feeling that when it does many others will go like a row of dominoes

I’m a Barnsley fan - so I renewed (and I can afford it)

I`m a Barnsley fan, I renewed, but cant say I`m happy with some of the ***** being offered up as entertainment.

Can I say it is possible to be a Barnsley Fan without coughing up for a season ticket.

I renewed for several reasons but most significant is excuse to visit parents and go to game with my dad every couple of weeks. Supported us for over 50 years and don’t intend to stop now. That’s not an endorsement of the current regime far from it. But I just can’t stop now. I can understand why some would think differently especially if money is tight.

I m thinking there might be more ground sharing like Coventry/ Birmingham Swillboro's not fit for purpose so they might end up asking to share very nicely.

I renewed because BFC and days out going to support my team with my friends means more to me than Conmerchant and co.

However, I would imagine that quite a good few more than 7,000 would have bought season tickets in the prevailing circumstances if this lot hadn't been in charge.

Completely agree. With me it's not that I don't want to live in hope. I try I really do. It's just that I also work extremely hard and often long weeks. I look forward to weekends so much, so to have something that just feels like it ruins it with sadness (how I feel about watching us these days) is something I can't do anymore. I'm working on not following the scores but struggle.

Like I've said before I don't think it's even about these owners it's just the way football has been ruined. Been doing same thing for years every time we have the vaguest chance of going somewhere, offload our talent.

If this had been the case in the 90s we'd have lost our players before we got through the season and so 97 would never have happened. Was one of best things I've lived through and have longed for it again ever since. Saddest thing is we could have done something special before the infamous January window and then i naively believed the new owners and started to get carried away dreaming what could be. Reality is they've demolished any hope I have that the club will ever be worth watching again

I’ve not renewed either (so that’s two of us from the same County!). It’s the only way I can register a protest at the owners.

I’ll still be going though time will tell how much. May even end up putting more money into the Club! But it’s not about the money for me, it’s about the incompetence and disregard the owners have for the Club and it’s supporters. May be a futile gesture in the end, but I couldn’t see any other way.

Total respect to those that have renewed though. I’ve no beef with my fellow supporters, even those who’ve done it “because Barnsley folk can’t resist a bargain.” Ha ha - there’s something in that.

Yep same here nothing to do with money, especially given it was cheaper, and full respect for those who have bought but ye same logic as you for me. Really really hope I'm wrong but can see the future being painful.

I’ve very little faith, if any, in our owners but I’ve still renewed. The main reason is that I fear for the future of our club in the current pandemic.
Hopefully, 7 or even 8k season tickets and the inevitable player sales will see us through financially. Fingers crossed....

Not even joking, that’s one of the main reasons I have. That, not wanting to lose my seat (the actual main reason) and it’s one of the only ways I spend money on myself so I can justify having one thing that’s a ‘luxury’. I obviously desperately don’t want the club to go under but truthfully, that didn’t really factor into my decision. I already donate to two charities and so I’m giving this money for selfish reasons, not to be altruistic. I can’t go throwing an extra £249 around just to be nice.

I've also been a bit selfish too. On top of all the reasons you've mentioned, which make perfect sense to me, I'm also keeping my ST record intact. I qualify for the discount at age 60 in a couple of years. Mess it up and I'll have to wait until I'm 65 (and who knows, maybe older by that time).

Same here. I’m thinking ahead a couple of years when I realise that watching Premier League from our half way line vantage point is going to be great! I hated the fact that I had to watch it from the Ora Stand back in 97/98

It's more of a social thing for me. It's the only time I see my 2 mates and we've sat in the same seats for 20 years. The early bird price was very cheap for concessions (£159) so we're not going to miss that even if we can't get to see them for half a dozen games. Winning matches is a bonus but we'd still go even if we were in the 4th division (league 2 in new money)
