Stay up by the skin of our teeth this season

    Or

Be relegated and come back as Champions of League One next year?

    Stay up. All day long.

Football will take a while to recover from this, other clubs aren’t going to throw money at their sides, and if we stay up we will presumably be in a comparatively strong position.

I don’t see why anyone would want relegation - I know you’ve added the caveat of winning the league next year but not only is that unlikely given the player sales we’d likely have, we don’t even know there will be a league one next season.

    Eh? Stay up.
There's no guarantee that we or anyone else will 'come back up' if relegated.
    Ask Leeds fans.

Up until about 4:48pm yesterday afternoon, I’d have said there was a far greater chance of us returning as champions than staying up. However, likelihood wasn’t part of the question.

Personally, and very much in hindsight, I think getting relegated a couple of years back is one of the best things that’s ever happened to this club.

Stay up. The huge loss in revenue would be very difficult to compensate for, with players sales and job losses behind the scenes extremely likely.

Stay up for sure, enjoyed the promotion season but like watching us playing team with higher profiles

I wouldn’t care if we sold the entire squad if their replacements won the league at the first time of asking.

I WOULD care if folk behind the scenes at Oakwell lost their jobs.

Stay up. Lots of physical teams in lower divisions. They exact type of team we tend to struggle playing against.

Stay up. Leagues 1 and 2 could well be a mess with no fans/reduced capacity and limited media coverage.

    Stay up, all day long.

Even if just because financial constraints in the league means that a better chance for a club of our means to consolidate in the Championship won't be along for years, if ever.

Head - stay up. Heart - win League One next time. Last season down there was absolutely mint; the best football and best atmosphere, esp. on the road, since the Glavin-era, IMHO. Proper steamrollering teams, non-stop, all-out attack, with the meanest defence I’ve ever seen in the flesh. The statisticians here at work were waving numbers at me every week, saying they’d never seen anything like it.

If you could guarantee me another season of that, I’d go with Heart. Every time.

Whatever type of season happens next year in league 1, there are some big names in there that will all be fighting to get back to the championship. It will be no easy ticket to get straight back up.

Even if you could somehow guarantee that we'd win League One next season, I would still choose to stay up without a moment's hesitation.

A lot of answers are ignoring the caveat of going up as champions by saying we'd struggle in league one. Thats not the question :) (hi there Mr Pedantic)

But yeah, stay up all day long.

Even if it was guaranteed, the financial implications should make it a no brainer - stay up.

Lots of people seem to be answering the question: would you like to get relegated, yes or no? Which is not what I asked. Obviously none of us want to be relegated.

However, the reason I ask is because in 2017-18 Bolton were the ones that narrowly stayed up, while we were relegated. How many of you would have traded places with them back then?
