That's pretty unfair - a load of them were due to him progressing from non-league and a couple of loans. He's not exactly going to turn down moves up the pyramid to stay at Dorchester Town on 5 pints and a packet of scratchings a week is he?
Insane that we accepted 2.5m for Moore, given he still had 2 years left on his contract. For context, Blackburn paid £5m for Sam Gallagher and £7m for Ben Brereton, and Peterborough asking for about £5bn for Ivan Toney. Unless Stendel wasn't keen on keeping him, or Stendel thought that he wouldn't be able to manage him, given his desire to leave, then we should've been holding out for at least a guaranteed £5m.
You're skipping over the bit where the player also has to agree a contract with the club they're going to. It may seem that way sometimes, but the players aren't actually slaves.
My perception, and it is just that, is our swift conveyor belt of coaches have minimal say in who goes and certainly not what fees they go for. Its hard to know with so many undisclosed fees, but I have the same concern we don't get full value for players and make it very difficult to progress effectively.
Terrible price and probably one of the worst transfer deals done in a long time if true. Not just because of the price but the no replacement aspect aswel.
it was posted in jest, i know he wont come back his wages are too high which is why he ended up at Wigan
I’d say that was wrong but I don’t know for sure. His last match was a friendly against Sheff U - and at the final whistle he stood in the centre circle for a few seconds staring at the Ponti. A sort of - I’ve enjoyed my time here and I’m sorry to be leaving.
Presumably he does have a choice? If for example QPR offered him lower wages than Wigan, he could turn the move down I assume?
Yeah, but I more meant in in terms of the post earlier which claimed he was a journeyman out for signing-on fees. It's not like he insisted he'd outgrown Barnsley last summer and has then done the same to Wigan 12 months later. Both clubs were probably besides themselves with excitement for a sale, albeit for different reasons.
Its in an administrative position so although he does have a choice as such, he'll get paid nothing if he and others staying put bust the club and lead it to liquidation.
Yiadom hasn't actually played for that many professional football clubs has he? Barnet us and reading he is still at reading.
The fee was so low is was a joke and the timing was a puss take 4 working days before the window shut.
But if the alternative is something like 0 to 20% wages at Wigan he'd be daft to turn it down. Wigan are in Administration and who knows how much they are getting paid at the moment
