So, if they still owe us any money for Moore, they could win the appeal, relegate us, and only pay us a quarter of what we're owed. If that's the case, I hope our board point out the sporting advantage that would give Wigan...
Only the article in the Wigan express or whatever it is says so. Krasner said yesterday they would decide once the preferred bidder had submitted all of the paperwork by noon
Football debts have to be settled for them to retain their place in the league. That includes transfer payments to other clubs.
Every other team that goes into administration gets the points deducted why should Wigan be any different and as for wendy's can we have the Scottish league decide they might do another rangers to them
It’s only the initial hearing on the 31st I heard The guy who looks at football finance accounts on a podcast that more than likely it will be the end of Aug before it’s concluded. I honestly think they would just have to run the league with 25 teams next season if it did get overturned. Otherwise we are going to be the next team taking the EFL to court then.
If we did get relegated we would probably the next team to go into admin if we are planning for championship and then suddenly become a league one team. I imagine we are now going to continue paying our players at championship rates etc
The problem for me is that this will hinder our recruitment the longer it hangs over us. I don’t for a second expect it to be overturned, but we can’t make any signings until it’s over.
Some of them are. But I honestly don’t know why. Let’s assume they are unsuccessful and consequently decide to pursue legal action against the EFL. That’s one club the EFL need to worry about and, after all, they have simply applied their own, clearly stated rules. If they were to reduce the punishment, or overturn it altogether, there would be us for certain, and presumably several other parties pursuing the EFL. They would also have opened Pandora’s box to all kinds of other abuses at a time when football is under pressure to sort these things out. If Wigan can provide incontrovertible proof that they have been victims to a betting fraud then I guess the EFL would be forced to listen. Failing that, I cannot see any possible reason for a successful appeal.
It won’t, we’re a championship club next year. Pay your bills Wigan, you scruffs and stop bleating. As for feeling sorry for their fans, they were loving it when they were spending what they didn’t have. Nothing to see here, you’re rightly relegated.
Paul cook didnt seem confident last night he didnt mention it. But surely if he felt strongly that they had a big case he would have said when interviewed.
