If I had put a bet on Barnsley staying up this season would bookies had paid out before the Wigan appeal was heard
I had a bet some time ago for us to stay up. SkyBet settled the bet immediately after Wednesdays matches were completed. They do state in their football betting rules that “any penalties or appeals heard after the end of the scheduled season which may subsequently alter the league placing will not count for betting purposes” so basically it doesn’t really give any indication
yes - Just been paid out for a similar bet by Sky Bet. [Put bet (£10) on in March and got crap odds of 7/2 .]
I had a chunky bet on us getting relegated at average odds of 3’s after the Fulham game. Gradually laid off my stake so going in to Wednesday night I would win small if we stayed up and big if we were relegated. Betfair settled at 21:39 on Wednesday night and I have never been happier missing on winning a few quid. The definition of an emotional hedge.
I’m a big fan of the emotional hedge. Wednesday night was fairly expensive for me too, but I really didn’t care about the money.
