I said he doesn’t work hard enough to play the lone striker role for Bielsa. I’ve never thought he doesn’t work hard enough for us, but it’s a different requirement being that one up front for Leeds and I don’t think Woodrow would work for them - and definitely wouldn’t get 30 goals. The dropping deep thing is why I never really had an issue with him playing the number ten role.
You only saw the portion that we put on that video. Gerhard went on to say “you’ve been so important to me, a leader Cauley and I’m so proud of you.” Unfortunately, I was clobbered from behind by Brad Collins and so the last few seconds wasn’t included. I’m offering no opinion on rumours about potential transfers, but there is nothing at all to back up this idea that he’s had his head turned or didn’t care enough etc. And anyone knocking his efforts is daft. Without him we’d have struggled to get up, and struggled to stay up. He’s been a bargain of a signing.
It shows that it CAN be done, wasnt he bradshaws replacement? So we sold for a million ish and replaced with some experience for a million ish. Great, good footballer, good goalscorer. If he hasnt been tapped up...im suprised...he has been very disappointing by his standards post covid imho. Id love to think hes staying and id love a strong powerful, quick guy alongside him for next season.
Neither do I. I don't think he's fit to be a lone striker at any club, in all honesty. I don't think it's a work-rate issue, and he certainly has all the technical attributes, but he's not disciplined enough and will wander off looking to get on the ball.
Hopefully now he is guaranteed championship footy it will take a premier league outfit to tempt him away. i think if we add the missing links and keep the rest together we could genuinely go for top 6. we will get better and better as a side and the last few games showed how good we can be. i hope cauley stays along with the rest and really looking forward to see styles develop. He could be a real gem. Hope he does really well next season.
