We live in a really small rural-ish village with the worst broadband in the world (approx 1.4mb). Anyway, we found out a few weeks ago that openreach had fitted super fast fibre in the village where there’s only 20 houses. Brill, we thought. Well, all our neighbours can get it but we can’t and we’re in the middle of the square village. Neighbours on all 3 sides can get it but we can’t and no fcukker has been able to help or find out why. Anyway this morning out of the blue Openreach have added our house to the list so I’ve ordered 1gb/s fibre just because I can. Never thought we have anything other than ***** broadband in this village. What a week! COYRs.
Free broadband for everyone was a poorly thought-through Labour policy, but the sentiment was right. Universal access to good quality broadband should be a fundamental right in 2020 Britain. In a post-covid world it’s absolutely essential.
