Good luck to Hecky. Seems a good move to me. He's probably happier being a behind the scenes man.

Exactly, the current situation sees him separated from his family with a club where the form book says we’ll sell his best players and put him right back into the perpetual relegation fight he’s just scraped us through. Hardly an attractive proposition, I’d have thought there’ll be a few clubs closer to home willing to offer him a deal that doesn't separate him from his wife and kids.

    Of course not.
But I don’t like the idea that a talented manager and one of our own has joined one of our business competitors.

Good move for Hecky in the short term. I thought he may have looked at an opportunity at L2 level but one more failure for him as a head coach and he's finished. This opportunity gives him chance to re-group and come again.

Strange reaction , if you think that a premier club are one of our business competitors, then surely every other club in the pyramid are also competitors & Hecky surely has the right to work where ever an opportunity presents itself . Good luck to him , I wish him well & if he is as talented as you say ,then he will soon be back in management with another one of our business competitors .

So you don’t think Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Leeds United are our direct business competitors.
Have you ever visited the Barnsley area ?

I have only lived here for 68 years but football is an industry where staff continually move around & it seems you conveniently forget that Hecky played for Wednesday but my point is , he has gone to work in the premier league & they currently are on a different level to us , we might be in competition as fans, but I can assure you that Hecky going to the Blades will not affect our business one jot , sleep easy on that one .

If Hecky is not going to make Sheff U stronger then why have they given him the job?
Hecky will develop young players at Sheffield and bring them through.
He did a great job at doing that at Barnsley.
And some forget what a great job he did at doing that at Leeds.
Bringing young players through at Leeds - many of them wouldn’t have seen the 1st team if it wasn’t for Hecky.

Expect a few exciting young players coming through at Sheffield.
And if successful - expect football supporters from Barnsley going through to Sheffield to watch them.

Hecky did an amazing job at Leeds, what was it mid table? Then Bielsa came in had them fighting at the top the next season.

Football supporters from Barnsley going to watch Sheff United U23s? Give over.

Time to move on from Hecky YN. It’s like someone who can’t get over a breakup years later and is still obsessed. We have a young, exciting squad here that could go far. We have a good manager who often pulls things out of the bag from nowhere. Let’s look forward concentrating on ourselves, not ex managers who has got a youth role at a local rival and who are not even in the same division as us.

Yer know when an under 23 manager brings players through - which team do you believe they then play for?

And Sheff United being in a league higher - is basically my whole point.
Like I said - have you ever been to Barnsley?

Is it me - or does other people regularly see people walking around the Barnsley area in Sheffield and Leeds colours ?
Have a trip out to Cortonwood - which has many Barnsley towns and villages more or less surrounding it.
Take note of the football badges you see.
Sheffield and Leeds are our direct competitors.

I don’t want Hecky adding to the success of Sheffield.
And he most certainly will do.

Agree with everything you said until the last sentence , the only thing that would encourage anyone to go to Bramhall lane is already there, its called Premier league football ,to which Hecky has contributed zilch & I would expect fans of Barnsley to stick with Barnsley irrespective of what any other club are doing. If anyone wants to watch top flight football , they can do so by switching on the tv ,as all top flight matches are covered . I"m not so sure that someone running a clubs under 23 team is going to attract a mass exodus from Barnsley to Sheffield .

The great job he did at Leeds bringing players through?
He gave debuts to 5 players, guess how many of them featured this season in the league? None, not one appearance for any of them.

He's a good eye. Likes signing number 10's then saying he doesn't believe in them and sticking them in the stands. Good money if you can get it. Sign for Hecky if you like to attack n' score goals you'll be on gardening leave or Oxford for 12 months.

TBF, I actually do think he’s a good coach and don’t want to knock him too much.
I can’t criticise anyone wanting to progress and improve themselves, which he tried.
There are many examples of excellent coaches who tried to be Managers and failed, a lot at much bigger clubs than us.

He annoys me because I don't think it's his coaching that makes him fail. He gets dead set on a way of doing things even if it isn't working. A poor mans Mourinho.
