I am absolutely no fan of the spineless EFL; however if this thing goes against us it's not their fault is it? They did the right and proper thing in deducting the points from Wigan. It's now out of their hands. The Appeal Panel will be making an "independant" decision.
Very much this. They applied their own rules, and the independent commission deals with the appeal process. The Wednesday and Derby cases are the opposite way around. An independent commission hears the case, and then the decision is open to appeal, including by the EFL. As far as the Wednesday case goes, I think both Wednesday and the EFL are currently in their 14 day window to decide whether or not to appeal. The EFL have a track record for making appeals in previous cases, which calls into question why they set up this system in the first place. If anything, our fate is at least determined by a process that is well documented, both in terms of the penalty and the scope for appeal. The other ones are far more subjective.
Can’t help thinking if we hadn’t scored that og at Leeds Brum would be in this position taking vile abuse from irate Latiks . Don’t think it would have bothered their fans either tbh .
Brum would've stayed above us on goals scored I think. Probably more relevant, if the Wednesday decision had been announced in time for an appeal to be heard, it would've been Charlton offering a case up to the Wigan appeal.
You’d think, given the fact the computer has to factor in locations etc to create the fixtures, it has to be done before then.
A student journalist (emphasis very much on the word ‘student’) on that Twitter seems to have a hotline to WAFC’s QC, who’s been leaking bits & bobs to him over the last week or two.
Well we have Wigan football club with no owner,no manager, selling their players to raise some cash after having to have a whip round, who if I am right have not even payed us yet for our former player. How the heck are they going to manage to keep themselves from going bust if they stop in the championship. They could look and say the best thing for Wigan would be to accept the points go into league 1 and reboot and start again.
To say they've not paid us for a player is a bit misleading. No payments had been missed up to now, not sure when the next instalment of the fee is due.
Wigan today newspaper states Wigan verdict tomorrow at 4pm!!. https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/fo...r-race-will-firm-after-appeal-verdict-2931977
If we ever get called up for a war dunt stand near me in trenches just as we’re abart to gu over’t top
It’s been said time and time again but any other result than the appeal being dismissed is the wrong decision. Wigan fans will feel aggrieved but you cannot separate the owner from the club however short time they may have been owners. They bought the club appeared to decide that they would no longer service the massive debt and went in to administration admin attracts a 12 point deduction. The sale went through during the pandemic so no I foreseen circumstances. Rule in their favour throw the rules and regulations in the bin and prepare for utter chaos.
