Tried the corner pocket bistro today and got to say it was fantastic. Would highly recommend. If that place was in town centre it would make a killing
A mate has been there, he loved it. He had potted pink shrimps to start, but his wife thought they were a bit foul so chose blue cheese salad instead. It was ok even though she found a spider in it. The portions were huge, so much so that after the starters they needed a rest. Eventually they were in the right frame of mind, so the waiter racked up with the main courses. His wife's side salad was a little yellow, so she gave it a miss, but other than that it was fine. He craftily pocketed a couple of brown rolls for later, and eventually they polished off their main courses. After a big break the desserts arrived right on cue, followed by a nice pot of coffee.
They nearly did, when they saw the bill. They couldn't afford it, and had to clear the table as part payment.
The best meal I've ever had anywhere was in The Dearne Grove Inn on Pontefract Road, about 25 years ago. I ordered a curry ( can't remember what type now) that was utterly fantastic....I've been in a lot of dedicated curry houses but none could quite match the Dearne Grove.
His wife tried to push her salad to one side when she saw the spider. My mate was stunned when he saw it and told her to put it back on its spot.
