In the 90s it was known as the Vice Presidents Bar (of which I was a member for four years). It had no license so drinks post match were free.

Well after starting this post and hearing the crynes side I apologise and hope everything can be sorted. It's now quite worrying what's happening with our club

It’s costing us money or rather not earning ! The intention is to have a stand that can be used everyday year round, not a rotting nostalgic wreck that’s only a 3rd fit for football

Yes, probably the old board room.
Was there a some time ago and I think it still has the original woodwork etc from the pre-war period??
Think it's still used on matchdays by owners/directors/journalists who access it from the West Stand.

Your entitled to your opinion but I honestly cannot see what is so appealing about this current consortium. Chancers, with no affinity whatsoever to our club or town and appear to be dividing the fan base with every week that passes. It's a no from me.

What makes you think that would be good for barnsley fc? Not a dig just a genuine question.

I don’t think everything was as healthy as seems re Patrick and the council. I stand corrected if anyone at the same meeting can clarify the comments made re trying to purchase and get planning permission to develop the school. Either into accommodation for players arriving at the club. Till sorted with their own property or/and For apprentices living quarter’s. And couldn’t get planning permission. ?

It would cost a whole lot more if these owners saddled us with a huge expensive high apr loan like they did at OGC Nice.

we can’t get close to filling our ground in normal times. In COVID times, seat numbers are irrelevant.

It would be irresponsible beyond words to spend millions on a stand that won’t even be fully utilised. I’ve no nostalgia for the west stand. But I’ve even less vanity for a new one.

Ive been saying this for years. The west stand as such is only there to seat 2500 under cover. That could be knocked down in a week leaving the uncovered seats in front. The land behind would then have a flat pack building put up housing any new facilities.

If the west stand area is developed it’s done on the cheap and loses us 2500 seats. They can put a cheap pre fab Roof over the west lower seats.

If and when and how fans are allowed back, let em get wet in there. They seem to like it! ;-)

Close it, corden it off, keep as is, whatever, but spending any form of money, especially if it means these ‘investors’ get to channel a high cost credit line in as they did Nice, well... that would be utter lunacy in my view.

Myself & my Grandkids have season tickets on the west stand lower & love it there , if & when normality returns to football , I would like to see a new roof covering all seating & a general smartening up package of new toilets , bars etc , as I am sure this could be achieved without resorting to demolition & a new stand being built , thus resulting in a stand retaining its character & not costing the earth .

You could build a new stand without even demolishing the lower tier. Just get rid of the wooden box and build a roof that covers the lower tier as well. Good point mate :)

Can't see that myself. Youve got a gym and swimming pool at the metrodome.
