It’s the rollercoaster Hollywood sequel Brad Pitt has been waiting for. The joys of the takeover, the terribly sad passing of the club custodian, the joker Morais, the relegation, the saviour Stendel, GG to Nice, Conway stepping in as CEO, promotion, the Stendel fall out, the 21 word statement, the Huddersfield allegations, the Die Hard villain getting the job, Covid 19, Lockdown, threatening the EFL, the dramatic great escape, the Wigan court battles .......... The new Championship season, Struber’s future, Mowat’s future, the court battle between new owners and old owners, the council, the fans coming back to games, performances on the pitch improving, playoffs, Wembley, promotion, Premier League, 1-0 win against Liverpool on the opening day of the season. I’m exhausted just mapping out the scenes.
Can just imagine the movie... Brad Pitt reprising his role as Billy Beane, John Goodman as Paul Conway, Ken Jeong as Chien Lee, Eddie Redmayne as James Cryne, Christoph Waltz as Struber, George MacKay as Woodrow, Michael Fassbender as Sollbauer and Leonardo DiCaprio (uncredited) as Toby Tyke.
Your casting is spot on, except surely Ralph Fiennes has to reprise his role as Struber. He’s already got the prosthetics made.
Maybe our American owners are just trying to make us more of a 'storied club'. You couldn't get more storied than us like
Yes! Bambo scores that winning goal in the first Premier League game after two years out clearing his name
He celebrates by launching himself across the grass, but unfortunately he chooses to align his jump with the white line.
The excitement about the new season & Herr Stuber has been somewhat deflated by a major boardroom squabble in recent days. Violins are out again, rather than trumpets. I hope a sensible outcome is reached & fans need to press for this. For me the Lee / Conway consortium need to publish plans as to what they are going to do with the ground & come up with the agreed money. Barnsley council need to be the independent partner in this.
If I was directing it I wouldn’t have Brad Pitt in it. IMO the casting has to be more realistic and true to life so it would have to be something on the lines of: Paul Conway - Rowan Atkinson Daniel Stendel - Peter Kay Gerhard Struber - Toby Jones James Cryne - Ricky Gervais Bambo Diaby - Richard Ayoade
Don’t forget Stendel vs Barton! That’s the classic Hollywood fight scene! I could see Stephen Graham playing the Barton role
You don't think that's when he lost the plot. The embarrassment of his players seeing him have his ar5e kicked in the tunnel.
Second series could be called 'Barnsley: Chasing Payments' with that really annoying Adele song on the opening credits
