4 out of the top 5 Premier League top goal scorers last season had a big fella along side them. Probably.
I just don’t think we’re ever going to setup to play that way - last 5 mins throw Mads upfront maybe. I do think we have to find a way to beat the clunkers of the championship, they’re the teams we struggle against, don’t know if the answers to go direct though.
No not really. Vardy played up top on his own for Leicester, Sterling played up top for Man City with either Aguero or Gabriel Jesus (both 5’9), Ings at Southampton played up front with Che Adams (5’9) and Salah plays in a front 3 at Liverpool with both Mané and Firmino (again both under 6 foot).
Looks similar to what we have already got. Chaplin...need a big striker but of course his stats ain't too bad though
I’d sooner forget about them 2, they were both *****! Fola Onibuje was apparently 6’7, but he turned out to be just some donkey we’d taken from Skeggy beach that we put in a kit and a pair of football boots.
I find it incredible that in a discussion about whether Barnsley need a target man - we have posters mentioning the height of Premier club strikers - and one even mentioning the height of Owen and Fowler at Liverpool. Clearly there are people that watch football - that don’t take note of what they are watching? Surely they have noticed further down the leagues you go the football becomes more direct. Why? Because service to the strikers becomes less accurate. In other words - service to Premier strikers is more accurate and the strikers in that league are more capable of reading the game.
Very interesting stats. It can be amazing what you miss. BTW. I went to Mexborough Grammar when Banger Banks was playing for the school first team.
........ ‘We only pay by the inch‘ What we measuring here ? So can we start singing that there song again? Just a thought.
This lad that the thread is about scored a few headers when you look at his YouTube footage. I think it can be more about the players movement and timing than height when scoring headers. Whether he can hold it up I don’t know but he scores lots of different types of goals so if it’s true he may be a decent option.
David Speedie anyone. Trouble was refs allus pulled him up for thinking he must be incapable of out jumping 6ft + defenders. without fouling. Sure had springs inserted in his boots. Mindst.
This guy seems to think it wii be done. Seen a few posts on twitter to say he's training on his own after recovering from a hamstring injury
It’s like 1980s Wimbledon on this thread. Hoof it to the big man because aye that’ll work in 2020. Someone who can Hold the ball win headers and link up play would be grand but size isn’t relevant. McGoldrick did it for the blunts when they went up and he’s no giant. A few years ago Macken did it excellently for us again no giant.
I've noticed that guy posts a lot of Barnsley rumours, usually after the transfer has been hinted at by a more reputable source, and then he sticks his "I've been told" on the front. He's reading twitter and claiming to have sources basically. I watched last week, after the club hinted at Ludewig resigning, he joined in, same with Frieser, after the picture of him with the shirt had already been leaked.
Fola played for 10 years, for 20 different league and non league clubs but totalled just 85 first team games in all that time, and scored 14 goals in those 10 years. He retired in 2013. He is 6 foot 5 (see? been saying for years that size doesn't matter) Dennis Wise signed him for Swindon Town He only played 3 games for the Reds in 2005 We got him from Preston We unloaded him to Peterborough End of random information
