Sky have sacked three middle aged white men from the show. I wonder who they will be replaced with....

Sue Smith is probably an obvious choice as she's not male or white so ticks more than one box.

 

Says Sky are slashing the numbers. So guessing it’ll be from within the other pundits/broadcasters eg kammy.

 

How the chuff is Matt Le Tissier only 51? I was certain he would have been a decade older than me at least.

 

Only really watch it when Barnsley are away, however Nicholas I’d have understood because he wasn’t that good imo, but sacking Le Tissier and Thompson is stupid. Both were very insightful and had great knowledge of the game. I’ll never forget seeing Thompson’s reaction when Brian Howard scored that 90th minute winner at Anfield, absolutely priceless.

 

Does this mean that they’ve retained Paul Merson and Chris Kamara? Two guys that can barely string a coherent sentence together.

 

About time they’ve been outdated and lacking in knowledge for years. The only problem is they’ll now be replaced by people even less competent because their faces fit whatever narrative Sky are pushing.

If you mean Alex Scott, then she's brilliant. She's better than the three dinosaurs who have been let go. She actually understands tactics and analysis instead of just shouting "GOOOAALL, UNBELIEVABLE".

 

I think Chris Kamara is brilliant all the better if they keep him.

 

Those 3 'dinosaurs' have forgot more about football than she knows.

 

Alex Scott won 140 caps for her country. More than the other three combined.

More importantly though, as a broadcaster, she can speak in coherent sentences and express opinions, tactics and talk about the game.

Would you rather have Phil Thompson on a Tuesday night shouting "PENALTY" every time Liverpool get in the box.

Or is there other issues you have about her?

For the people complaining about box ticking and face fitting etc. you have to realise that you are mostly likely not their target audience. Think back to when you were young, would you have been excited to tune in to watch a show with three black middle aged (or old as you would have thought at that age) women presenting? The BBC replaced Chris Evans on Radio One despite him being extremely popular because he wasn't attracting anyone young, their audience was getting older and older and that wasn't the demographic they wanted so he had to be moved on. It's the same thing here. People who already watch it are probably going to carry on watching it even if they get someone new as you'll just adapt and get used to it, what they need to do is keep attracting new people and three old white guys isn't going to do it if they're trying to attract anyone young, BAME or female.

 

She'll be able to pop the kettle on at half time and make a few sandwiches for the lads.

 

Maybe they're being replaced with someone better, regardless of gender or ethnicity.

It's a stale format already because they insist on shoehorning in anyone because they're an ex footballer. As has already been pointed out, Kamara and Merson are hardly pro's, despite the length of time they've been doing it.

Its about time they recruited someone fit for purpose. Although I appreciate, not everyone will see it the same way.

 

Hardly affects many of us who actually watch BFC instead on a Saturday, but all for Sue Smith and Alex Scott who are great at describing the action. Not seen enough of Morrison for example to judge.

 

They've forgotten everything about football judging by their punditry

 

I mean, if we’re picking her up on not knowing a footballers entire career, then I think that’s a very minor point. I couldn’t tell you the majority of Premier League players first clubs. We only know Stones because it was our club.

Lots of people make mistakes. Harry Redknapp said Wes Morgan deserved an England call-up despite having 20+ caps for Jamaica. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t know football.
