Won 5-0 at Donny today... 4th pre-season win out of 4, granted do know who against. May not be the whipping boys some think..
Lest we forget, we won 4 out of 5 friendlies last season, scoring 15 goals. We subsequently won 1 in 19 competitive games thereafter.
Also, didn't we get smashed nearly every pre-season game in summer 2007? Followed that up by letting Coventry destroy us in the first league game, only to get to the FA Cup semi-final and stay up?
I wouldn’t read anything at all into pre-season form. I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t hold much hope looking at Rotherham’s squad, on paper obviously.
Pre season form is a notoriously poor predictor of what happes when the real games start I still expect Rotherham to struggle - just like the 3 promoted sides last season did. There are always exceptions of course and this coming season may well work out differently to normal with the closed door stadiums but I am not worrying about them at this stage. It would be nice if they did OK and we happily watch the likes of Wednesday Birmingham and another "big" club fill the bottom 3 places - but I wouldnt bet on it
Before knocking Rotherham let's get our own house in order...and avoid counting chickens...as they say....if Conway and co see pound note signs dangling before their eyes there's every chance come kick off we could see almost a complete new team...and it might be us that once again struggle... I for one wouldn't be surprised if both Wednesday with their points deduction and Rotherham both finished above us...only time will tell ...
I would, extremely. I'd be even more surprised if Wycombe finished above us. I also fully expect Birmingham and Reading to be down there.
I hope you are correct....I dont want us anywhere near the foot of the table....in an ideal situation we would be safe come the back end of March so that the gaffer could then blood the second string But conway and co have history when it comes to pound notes wafting under their noses...
I know, but the statement at the end of last season where they stated mistakes had been made on and off the field.... etc Got to believe in them this time so we will be ok I reckon. Mid table definitely, might even knock on the door of top half....
