Just seen this local ad, ‘quality’ ‘adaptable’ at under 12 level! What happened to encouraging kids and giving them a chance? I was a decent player but didn’t develop proper confidence until way after that
If they re in the A division they will be a good standard locally. But grass roots football should be about playing in teams and development i agree.
My lad plays for Harrogate Railway under 10's and it's all about enjoying themselves there. However, there's quite a few teams in Harrogate where the coaches think that they are the next Gaurdiola or Klopp and will only pick the very best kids and not give others a chance. It just stops the kids with less ability developing.
Choose life. Choose a pastime. Choose a sport. Choose kids football. Choose Ripon City f*cking Panthers. Choose jumpers for goalposts, parks, adaptable players and half time ribena. Choose overpriced boots and driving a car full of little shits to Knaresborough on a Sunday morning. Choose standing on that touchline yelling "get stuck in" every 10 minutes. Choose embarrassing your son by screaming obscenities at a volunteer referee until the match gets abandoned and you get an ASBO.
