On his day , could be a confident player not averse to playing the "killer" pass re- remember Southend away.?
Unfortunately, he didn't do it often enough and blew hot and cold often leading to him being substituted.
Could do a job for someone at League One level, but as others have said, he will probably return home to
    further his career.

Seems like Struber's turning into a decent judge of a player tbh. Ritzmaier must be 'the exception that proves the rule' :D

We've rightly let several low impact/contribution players go and there's a few more like Bahre, Miller, Victor etc that can follow so now we need and should have plenty of room for those 3-4 quality signings to give Gerhard a fighting chance with left-back, centre-mid, physical striker and possibly left-sided centre-half the priorities imho.

Yep the comments on here say it all...
On his day some good performances. sadly his days were too few and went missing when we needed some bite...but occasional flashes of a talent that someone may be able to develop.....we've had our period of development last season and now looking to step up...afraid Mike dunt fit that bill but good luck to him

Technically gifted footballer, he could be a 'shoe-in' at Rotherham.

Never known a player like him. Unbelievable touch and technique, great at the difficult stuff but struggled with simple stuff like playing a 5 yard pass.

It's a strange juxtaposition when you compare him with our dear Ritzy, who arguably can defend and hold position but is generally a liability in possession (unless he's kicking sideways or backwards). In your opinion, would you say Ritzmaier can excel at both attacking and defending?

I have both Bahre and McGeehan match worn shirts hanging up the stairs in my house. Perhaps I better not put up the Mowatt one just yet........

In 34 mins that consisted of two sub appearances, Tommy ended up on the winning side against Newcastle and Port Vale (in the FA Cup).

    A fair comparison, indeed.

Marcel Ritzmaier started 13 games last season, appeared as a sub in two others. All league games. Barnsley won seven of them. Barnsley had won five of the previous 31. He holds the best win percentage therefore, of last season's players. That isn't to say he is THE difference. Many variables involved in our turnaround that we've all discussed at length. But yeah. I think it was fair in the latest thread to have a dig at Ritzmaier, to point out a positive fact.

Interestingly, Mike Bähre had the next best win percentage.

    I miss debating on here.

As others have said super touch and vision, lad could take a ball down from the sky like few others. I thought the team looked better with Mike playing. All the best Mike.

I liked Mike and wish him well. Remember someone posting stats that said he had the best pass completion rate at the club.

Good luck Magic Mike. Shame it didn't work out here, there was a decent player in there it just didn't quite click in the Championship games though

I don't understand the hate for Ritzmaier. He never cost us a goal and he always did his job defensively and tactically. There were a lot of games where he was very much "meh" on the ball but I don't remember him having any howlers. I could understand it if people just didn't really rate him or expected more from him, but it goes beyond that, I get the impression that some on here genuinely hate the guy. Admittedly most of it comes from the usual loons who you couldn't even entrust to collect the balls after training. But still.

I’ve had a pop at him a few times but I certainly don’t hate the guy. Really hope he comes good for us in the up coming season.

I love debating - and generally I like reading your posts. I think it's pretty good that someone from 'inside' the club is still permitted to converse with fans on a message board. And I also understand that you won't public cricitise players - you would be insane to do so.

My point was that you can use any stat you like to prove a point - obviously I went with a ludicrous example because I'm a bit of a dick.

However, I think it's fair to say that Ritzmaier had minimal impact on our winning run and such a small sample size is bound to throw up anomalies. Matty Wolfe has a 100% win record. Romal Palmer has a 66% win record. Both far superior to Ritzmaier, and both have an even smaller sample size.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, Ritzmaier wasn't the greatest player of last season.

I've got my favourites like everyone else I suppose, and there are players I'm not as keen on (from a playing perspective). That's natural. But you're right. I'm not as daft as I look. :D

15 games is a third of a season. I think that's a pretty fair sample size, especially when you can see the basic shape of the league table from 10 or 12 games in.
