Yes You are right about how the transfers work ,but sometimes especially in january ,clubs go that extra mile & pay over the odds for a player & pay more than their original maximum figure , simply because of fan pressure & maybe a bit of desperation to make signings with the closing window nearing , also agents like to create a bidding war just to inflate the price .
If the Crynes are correct and the owners owe them 2.75 million in unpaid coin then surely they'd be livid at spending £1.50 never mind £1.5 million on a player?!?!?!
I get what he's saying, and I don't mind that there's no signings coming in at the minute. But why would the focus of the people who sign the players be on the first few games? They're completely different departments aren't they? I guess this is just the line they've given to the local journos
Well, the company that would be parting with cash to sign a player is different to the company that effectively owes the Cryne's money, so no.
Based on nothing happening at this moment? How long is the window open for? Fair while still, if I'm not mistaken
Based on the 'left back and central midfield are main targets' statement. Obviously alot could happen but it seems a striker is not a main priority.
Whether true, or not that we are close to signing Whiteman, I think that the reports DO show in what positions we are trying to strengthen, so that, even if signings like Dykes and Whiteman don't come off, we might expect that we will still be after a target-man striker (Marcus Forss is my tout yet again, guys) and a central midfielder to operate alongside Mowatt. I would expect arrivals in both those positions before the transfer window closes, whether English-, Scottish-, or European-based players.
Initially, it closes on the 5th October. However the EFL can still negotiate transfers until 16th October. The Premier League can continue making deals with the EFL during this additional period, but not with foreign leagues. https://www.skysports.com/football/...dline-day-key-dates-and-times-for-summer-2020
We have Mowatt’s midfield partner In Stiles, Unless Of course it turns out he is his replacement, then we will need a midfield partner for Stiles
I think spending cash will keep being thin on the ground whilst the board keep bickering like children.
Any idea that we are going to come anywhere near close to exceeding our transfer record seems very far fetched to me. If there's more than one club in for the Donny guy I really can't see him coming to Oakwell. Apart from Wilkes, struggle to remember the last time we beat off any serious competitor for a player's signature. Personally, I'm more concerned about who might leave than arrive.
