I know of a couple, smart people, who have just arrived in London. They are australians with a connection to Barnsley. Thirty yearsoldish. Most likely, they will live and work in london for a couple of years. They both have good jobs. At the outset they hope to experience europe. They are open to committing to new (albeit temporary) lives in the old dart. They are primed and ready to be Barnsley supporters and they know that we are not seen as the coolest dudes in the country. They will be Reds if the experience is good. London matches they can watch (covid regs being followed). They will spend time in Barnsley and York. It is incumbent on Reds' dads to introduce their youngsters to this life... no matter how late. To commit to the Reds is .... is character building. I am hoping to get some support, here..
Things were set and then covid held them back for six months. But the jobs pulled them over. The europe trips are not the biggest draw. To live and work in London is a big deal for them. I hope it goews well. twenty years ago, Mark was at Millmoor when half the field was frozen white... remember that? I got his name on the blinky scoreboard at Oakwell next match. It has been a campaign...
Good luck to them and let’s hope that they have a great experience over here and become permanently hooked on the Super Reds
If they're keen to be involved with the London Tykes once we're allowed back to games give me a shout. We organise train tickets, match tickets, etc. whenever the cheap tickets come on sale about six weeks before.
you are a London Tyke? for some reason I thought you were connected to wuzbrer dale. Thanks.. Friendly people are what it takes... and well done with your media work. most impressive..
I'm an exiled London Tyke these days after a decade down there. But pre-Covid I would work in London a couple of weeks a month and go to most of the away games from London as the home games are all gate-crashed by doing the FanZone
could form the Aussi Reds .My son lives in Sydney soon to move to mudgee ( just up road for him 3 hour drive) watches on ifollow gets up at 3am to watch matches.
I'm in Sydney and I'm going out to Mudgee next month to see some mates. Why is your son going out there? maybe he's gonna work on the open cut coalmining. Tell him I'm on the Northern Beaches... we could catch up maybe...
