Yes, just like her selling pork to the Chinese a few years ago, that went down like a lead balloon as well... Ffs you put idiot's charge of the country and all they can do is fek it up You'd be better off reading private eye every fortnight to see what these buffoons are really up to instead of believing in their propagandistic tweets...
Good that we got Cheese specially protected in there. Actually in all seriousness this looks at face value to be a good deal - not sure its any better than we would have had via Europe had we remained but its a start To put it into context though our Trade with the EU last year was £615 billion - our trade with Japan was £27 billion - its only a baby step
Good Tweet reply someone posted: “No-deal with the EU will result in a 7.6% drop in UK GDP. Our new Japan free trade deal will increase our GDP by 0.07%, and is actually an inferior copy-and-paste of what we already have, via the EU. And, for the avoidance of doubt, these are the government’s own figures...“
Our fishing trade can catch lots of fish in our water for their sushi and Japan can give us cheaper electrical products such as when Playstation 5 is released, so it's win win
Yes be great to export all those spare tuna we catch in the north Atlantic Wonder if they will want to put Mackerel and Herring into their Sushi
Yes, good deal. Bearing in mind that most Japanese folk are lactose intolerant. And, of course, the proximity of Japan to us! Have a Blue Peter badge, Boris!
But don't the EU member's already have a better deal with Japan? What a result! Starting 1st January 2021 we get to celebrate score draws like 6-0 wins.
a trade deal is a trade deal and proves theres no need for a political union to strike one..The eu only has itself to blame for the current situation we find ourselves in, we were sold a common market in the seventies not a parliament with dozens of mp's, they pulled the wool over the eyes of the electorate and were a set of liars no different to the 350million battle bus we had 4 years ago, not that our remain voters would accept this.. even thatcher called them liars after she was shafted with false promises surrounding block/majority voting.
The treaty of Rome spoke of economic and political union, it may have started off as a common market but it was always envisaged to evolve into something more, and its progress from one to the other was supported at every step by the U.K. government
If you really believe that then so be it. My memory of the EU (formerly EEC) is that it had had its own assembly (parliament) since 1949 so you surprise me with your comment. We didn't elect MEPs when we first joined but we did send delegates to act on our behalf. Whilst you may think that it was purely an economic thing, it did have 2 main goals. 1 to transform trade, industry and manufacturing in the Community; 2 to take a step closer to a unified Europe. Now a unified Europe probably means different things to people . From my point of view I have no qualms with sharing some things for the common good. So my view of "unified" is "cooperative". Everyone has an inane ability to lie, so we have to learn to read the small print.
Of course a trade deal is a trade deal but it doesn't make all trade deals equal. A football contract is a football contract but I reckon Callum styles's extension is a better contract than Aiden Marsh.
Pretty weak argument when the trade deal struck, in this case with Japan, is very much inferior to the one we benefited from which Japan has with the EU... The U.K. only has itself to blame for the current situation we find ourselves in.
