No I wouldn't. Maybe a huge party I would but more likely due to the noise.

I’ve been abroad twice since July and no phone calls or texts checking up on me. Didn’t expect any either.

Philatelist parties. Alcohol and stamps are never a good mix. They end up licking everything.

And not one bit has been discussed in Parliament. Its all been shoved through under Public Health laws.

This rule of six also includes mingling in the street. Ie you bump into a freinds family in the street.

I am starting to form the opinion that the Government and the oppositition have no desire to find a workable Covid solution or a way to exit these lockdown measures.

The pandemic has handed them all the powers they want and there will be little rush for them to relinquish these powers...

I wouldn’t ‘grass’. The number of six though is clearly arbitrary, it’s six everywhere but kids under 12 don’t count in that unless you’re in England, and it only mattered from yesterday. Really?

We need to be sensible and take precautions, not be selfish, but the rule has been put in place not to reduce the R number, but to create social tension and pass the blame on. Again.

I have three kids. After Sunday it became illegal for me, my wife and kids to have a meal with my mum and her husband. Too many.

The kids can and will still go to nanna and grandad’s every Friday and stay overnight, but only one person can pick them up (or drop them back home), so as to meet the six rule.

All of this is completely within the rules, never more than six in one place. My kids are all at school in ‘bubbles’ - the eldest is at secondary school in a bubble of his year group - c. 250 kids and various staff. That’s allowed though. Shares three toilets with 120 other lad’s his age, cleaned twice a day.

My mum also provides some care to my nanna, who’s 81 and not the strongest on her feet anymore. We have considered keeping the kids away from my mum for this reason. My nanna got wind of that and stopped it though. No way... She also demands we take the kids to see her. My cousin had a baby a couple of months ago, but up to that point my three were her only great-grandkids so far from all her six grandkids.

‘nanna, we need to be careful, we don’t want to pass it on to you. The kids are back at school, Donna’s at work, I’m working from home but have to go out to the shops and to school etc. We could pick it up - we’d likely be ok but you might not be’.

‘Christopher, I might ******* die in the next year anyway. I will be dead within a few years regardless. I’ll be ****** if I’m not going to see them babbies for months and die on my own anyway. I don’t want it but I refuse to be frightened of it. I don’t bloody go anywhere, I need people to come and see me. If I get the bloody thing I do.’

She’s always been an eloquent lady in that regard...

Depression, anguish, stress and loneliness will kill as many as Covid this year. Probably more.

I’m not advocating ignoring the science, please be sensible. But the six rule is clearly dreamed up nonsense. It could have been four, 8, 12, anything. Arbitrary, the number they decided on didn’t matter, just what the social effect will be. I didn’t trust anyone in this government anyway, then they made a mess of the Covid situation, repeatedly lied, followed by breaking international law. I’ll pass on believing everything they say thanks.

Ditto on that one, but labour supporters and remainers, and a bucket of piss just incase the police didn't turn up.

I just think in this day and age a simple text to remind you still to quarantine would be standard.

It all smacks of the Gestapo in Nazi Germany. Get people to spy on each other and it makes the whole business of governing much more easy. That's what they want. Ok, I know it sounds like small fry but like I say it suits the Govt. agenda. And it also makes it easier for people who have grudges against their neighbours to get the boot in. There are lots of nasty neighbours remember.

No, I would never report my neighbours if they had a group of people in excess of 6.

Should people be allowed to report their neighbours anonymously ?
Some friends were accused by their neighbours of reporting them (there were 18/20 people at their party.)
Caused a lot of ill feeling as it wasn't my friends who had done the reporting.

Interesting results. Nearly half of people would, under the right circumstances, report their neighbours for having a gathering of more than 6 people.

Quite easy from that to see how straightforward it’s been for oppressive government regimes to be successful over the years. Thank you for voting, whichever way you went.

And what exactly have ‘the opposition’ done to lead you to that ludicrous conclusion?

or is it just that a government you backed are creating a humungous mess and you don’t have the decency to admit the other party might have made a better job, so you just drag em into a mess of your making?

It's all to CONvince you that it's the public's fault. Divide and conquer.
Matt Hand-on-**** said today the test/trace chaos is what happens when things are free, I.E. there wouldn't be a huge demand if you had to pay for it.This is the man in charge of the free at the point of service NHS.

They’ve supported pretty much every measure put in place by the government so far, to be fair. Starmer said last week he agreed with the ‘rule of six’ and was in full support of it.

At the moment, the testing system is about to collapse, tracing isn't working as expected and cases are increasing. Hospital admissions due to COVID in Bolton are increasing - although only 9-10 per day (average is 2 throughout Greater Manchester) and those admitted are now in the middle-aged male demographics.

But, for the original question - would I report my neighbours if they had more than 6 in the garden? I didn't throughout the lockdown when they had their daughter and grandkids around every day, but if it gets past 9pm and they are making noise outside I will put in a complaint. To be fair, they haven't since the last time I called Environment Health on them for having a party at midnight on Sunday but it did take a few goes to get them to stop before that.

Presumably though that's independent of how many folk are there, so I'd say that's still a "no" to this question?

First time they were out until 4am shouting abuse at us about 10ft from our en suite window (from their patio) - they weren't happy when they were woken up at 6 the next day..
Second time they had a big party on Saturday - we went away - but that carried on until Sunday night.... when we complained
They had their chances over a decade ago so it would be zero tolerance if they were noisy. Breaking the rule of six would just be extra ammunition.

That's an interesting interpretation, totally disregarding only 4 people would report them for 6 or more.

There is a big difference of someone having 7 or 8 people to say 30 or 40... as others have pointed out. I would only complain if it was high numbers.

I didn't vote for this govt. and never have in 20-odd years of being eligible to vote.
