Shortly before the start of the season in the 2nd division, Holstein Kiel received a transfer request for attacker Lion Lauberbach from the English championship. His advisor confirmed that to the kicker. Arjen Robben's club also deals with Lauberbach.

"Lion is very popular with several European clubs. Of course for a 22-year-old player it is attractive when clubs from the Dutch Eredivisie and the English second division deal with him," said Sebastian Schulze the kicker.

The association has received the request from the English. Now it is up to Kiel to decide how to proceed with the boy.

Lauberbach's adviser also confirmed that Barnsley FC had submitted a written request for the attacker from the second-rate English championship, who had made 21 appearances (3 goals, 2 assists) last season. "The request from the English has been submitted to the club. Now it is up to Kiel to decide how the boy will continue," said Schulze.

In addition to Barnsley, coached by Daniel Stendel between 2018 and 2019, FC Groningen - Arjen Robben's club - is also dealing with Lauberbach. In his contract in Kiel, which runs until 2022, the attacker has an exit clause in the mid single-digit million range. On Sunday (1.30 p.m., LIVE! At kicker), the storks will start their new second division season with a game against Bundesliga relegated SC Paderborn.

Obviously its translated from German, but is that saying he has a release clause of around €5m Euro's? That would price us out then Shirley?

I watched a couple of Holsten Kiel games after the lockdown, they're quite a similar team to us. Try to press the opponent, like to keep the ball on the floor where possible. And like us at the start of last season, look lethal in attack, and clueless at the back. I don't remember this guy specifically from that game, though I wasn't paying much attention.

I caught an article last night from January where Bayern Munich II were looking at him for around €1.5m. It’s probably reasonable to suggest in the Covid times that it’s now closer to €1m or less.

The article also called him quick despite his height/size (paraphrasing there).

A tall speedster who could bring others into play would be just the ticket.

If its a clause in his contract, it'll be a fixed amount I would imagine. Obviously they could be open to a lower offer, but I'd imagine they'd be reluctant to sell for any less than the clause price, as they don't have to.

As I say, they seemed quite a high intensity, pressing team from what I saw of them, so he should fit straight in with the way Gerhard likes to play.

Be nice to have an alternative option that we can plug in and play from the off rather than having to bring them upto speed that’s for sure.

Actually, Trev, I'm proud to be regarded as 'woke' by others. It bothers me not one jot if right wingers try to use it as a derogatory word, I'll wear it with pride.
