Mowatt - ‘we need to start taking our chances’ - LOL !!!
This from a player that was around their penalty area during the first half - he had a large part of their goal open to him - but he chose to pass the ball wide left.
And there goes another chance to score.
Decisions like that are what you usually see from a young lacking in confidence player.
And as such they are excusable.
But Mowatt isn’t that is he.
That decision is another example of the value of Mowatt - he just isn’t good enough.

Doesn't matter if he's wearing blinkers or not - if Mowatt is not good enough, too wasteful, can't shoot, can't take a good fee kick then, in my opinion he has a genuine point to make.

Why do good players get stick but headless chickens can run around all day & get away with it ?

Good players don’t get any stick.
Alex Mowatt has been a fantastic player for Barnsley - but times have moved on.
He has tremendous technical ability but dosen’t use his head to dictate midfield - by finding those angles and spaces and using his passing ability to keep the younger players driving forward.
We need someone that can dictate play like this.
If you saw Fulhams Scott Parker performance a few seasons ago you’ll know what I’m talking about here.

I like Mowatt but I don't think he's as indispensable as some make out. He too one footed, rather slow, hardly scores and his set pieces ineffective.

If you think of what Hourihane was like playing in the same role, Mowatt is nothing much more than an average squad player imo.

Sorry mate but Nudgers criticism towards Mowatt here is justifiable because he is a culprit in wasted opportunities.

Let’s be honest. Who would we honestly get to replace him? Be some guy from Austria who will take some time to get up to speed again. No matter what the board say they haven’t learnt from the past. We still have a head coach who is asking for more experienced players. Right now we are treading water. No more or less.

My only issue with your criticism of mowatt is that surely there are other midfield players for us who would be moved on first? Unless the reason you want shut of him is that we would get more money for him than others?

Agree that Mowatt is a more than capable championship player but although his play is often neat and tidy he needs to add more assists and goals to his game to help him get to the next level at the minute everything is a bit too safe from him and we’re crying out for that X factor type player .

Spot on mate. Whilst he does nothing wrong and isn't lazy he has zero outcome on the game.

The frustrating thing is that he was scoring and getting assists before Struber came and gave him a much more defensive roll. He's made him really ineffective, especially after the first few games when he started to change things.

No this isn't an anti Struber post, just an observation that Mowatt has been rendered ineffective by the formation and tactics rather than suddenly becoming an ineffective player of his own accord

Loving the comparison between Mowatt and Scott Parker.

I think Kevin de Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes or Miralem Pjanic would also be better options for us than him.

Have to agree, I think this will probably be the season where more people will come to the same conclusion. Again, central midfield is a position that should have been strengthened before now.

It is but if my car is sliding around and not braking like it should do I don't replace the best tire on the car, I replace the bald one.

But de Bruyne isn't a defensive midfielder though, you're trying to compare apples and oranges. You're just being silly:);)

I agree with a lot you say, especially your reference to Scott Parker , he had a similar affect as Jan Molby did with us , unfortunately yer Parkers & Molby"s of this world are at a different level to us but it would be great to see someone of that calibre in a reds shirt .
