I'd like to say they'll be able to recognise that they were playing a far superior side tonight than who they'll come up against at the weekend, and go out without confidence being knocked too much.

But then, confident or not, we'll still probably make the same stupid mistakes.

Personally cant see this result changing anything.

Pretty laughable to say our season is in tatters for losing to a likely top 3 side in the premiership who have spent in the region of 200 mil.

Positives to take from the first half. Positives to take from the first half of the Reading game also.

    Knee Jerk reaction imo.

Whyt do you say that - we havent conceded many goals since lockdown and few of those have been due to stupid mistakes - none this season apart from tonight. We wont play a side anything like as good as Chelsea again this season and we wont setup like this again either

this is an irrelevance - just a shame we couldnt score and the final result looks so bad

Chelsea will be a top 3 side this season. They have some class about them and play very well. They could be the main challengers to Liverpool this season. I am not too concerned about the result, the game looked like and played out like a pre season friendly

Well Coventry will fancy their chances. Eight or nine shots on target by us and no goals. Struber laughing at least the thousands of fans who would have travelled down don't have the long trip home

The thing that’s the most frustrating is that, despite Chelsea having more possession, we’ve still managed 9 shots on target to their 11. The stats for the game are fairly even, yet the final score suggests something else completely.

agreed, i think the additional quality and pressing from chelsea meant mistakes were made and then punished. This is a level of quality we are unlikely to see again this season and for a period of the game we looked great so I'm still positive!

I think he made a whistle gesture as he smiled at the ref. Probably thanking him for not adding five minutes on.

Some great displays by our young team today. The score does not represent how I saw the game. We missed chances & made silly mistakes. Other than that we were on a par with them, other than the six nil scoreline.

It’s a little painful but tonight the opposition substituted their £75million signing and brought in their £50million signing to replace him. It shouldn’t dictate too much for the rest of the season.

We were caught out a few times, made some poor errors, and missed a gazillion chances (what’s new?). But we actually gave them a game first half, it wasn’t all doom and gloom.

Though that said, six should have been at least eight, and to my eye we were also very fortunate to not have Collins sent off - and also that Williams didn’t concede a penalty against Hudson-Odoi late on. It could and should have been about 9-4 tonight.

I can only hope Struber dragged Ritz and Frieser off before the hour as he realised they aren’t good enough, though I suspect they were being saved for Saturday... Ritz played ok the other day, reverted to type tonight though and even though it’s early days, I’ve seen nothing in Frieser to think he’s got any ability aside working hard.

And worryingly Coventry have been resting up since they played last Friday. Must win game for Struber on Saturday for me.

Get us some power up front, score a few goals and everything changes. Not tonight bviously, but we have been here too many times in years gone bye, defence always under pressure knowing they concede and the games gone.
This time we had a run through, the powers that be must know what we need up front or it’s season over, end of

Yep, well said troff.I know all that but you just feel it happens with every team we play of late, it gets grinding after I while, the only people I blame are the board therye letting it happen before our eyes the progress is snail like were very slow to sort the squad out after promising signs back end of last season. Think all bfc fans feel the same, we need a boost.
