He must have insisted on a release clause in his contract to begin with so he'd one eye on leaving before he came

Wonder who insisted on Messi’s release clause. Any one who thinks they can progress. Would try and insert one. Clubs take chances.
    But Barnsley.

Yeah clearly anyone that wants a release clause has already left before they joined.

    What a stupid comment.

Didn't say that he'd left before he signed unless you see something other than what I wrote?

It's just the way the footballing world works. Doesn't mean anything.

Its not in the interest of the coach to have a release clause is it? Especially not such a large one.
The cheaper the new club get him for, the better the carrot they can dangle

Of course it's in the coach's interest to have a release clause.

Explain why? they just leave otherwise don’t they? Its not as though the club can hold them to ransom in the same way as a player registration

We paid substantial compensation to release Struber from his Wolfsberger contract.

Therefore it makes complete sense that we would put something similar in to his contract with us. I don’t understand why all managers don’t have a release fee. Makes it better all round

I thought that the clubs had to agree compensation before an employed manager could speak to a new club?

Sometimes they do but often they just walk and sort out the compensation later at a tribunal. I thought the reasons clubs put these buy out clauses in is so they aren’t short changed by this process

The release clause is to protect the enployers, so the manager/coaches and players don't just walk away for nothing

They can't just walk. They'll all be on long notice periods so they can't just instantly quit and take a new job.

Seeing the size of some folk going to Oakwell I'd say it's a toss up between the burger van the sandwich shop or the Mount being Mecca....or a combination of all three...lol .......
