Agree with it I think. Woodrow hasn’t been at the races recently

Thought Woodrow was excellent in the first half at Chelsea. That team looks very lightweight up front.

Thomas is crap, would rather play Palmer, Odour or Wolfe in that position.

It is lightweight up front but just looked at squad classed as forwards. We have, in addition to chaps and schmidt - Ade, Frieser, woodrow and miller. Does this show just how much we need another striker of a certain type, i think so.

Small in stature, will struggle at set pieces.

I rarely take note of who is saying what.
But sometimes I wish I would take note of people who say bad things about young talented players that will clearly get better and better.
And then at a later date remind them of what they said.

As for the initial post - no matter what permutations you do with the current squad - it still remains that the spine of the team is weak.
    Goalkeeper ✔
    Centre back ✔
    Midfield general X
    Centre forward X

And it’s also important to note we have good replacements for the goalkeeper and centre back roles.
But we haven’t anyone at all for the midfield general and the centre forward. - never mind a replacement for those positions.

We now enter the last few days of the transfer window - a few days that will greatly determine the season ahead.

Yep, after doing the team initially on gut feel, i then looked at the squad on paper and pretty much came to the same conclusion. Up front is particularly limited in variety.

Is Vic there? Adebajayo. I would like to see him have some part to play at Boro either starting or given 20 mins at the end, however cant see Struber not giving Schmidt and Freiser game time.

On Woodrow I think he has improved his work rate and the defensive side of his game but maybe not to the standard the boss requires and his finishing is showing his confidence levels are down so maybe it is time for him not to start for a game or two.

Pretty much agree with this. With regards to the midfield general, it's my firm belief that this is a role that Styles will grow into in the coming years, although it would be completely unfair and unreasonable to put all that responsibility on his young shoulders right now. In any case, whether he'll be with us long enough for us to see it is another matter entirely.

That team won’t score goals in the championship. We need to inject 3/4 players with quality, good decision making, a bit of trickery and knowledge.

We have with have nucleus of a good squad but relying on kids week in week out who aren’t experienced in the championship is mind boggling. They get bullied and “old manned”

im amazed that still we have got anyone through the door. If we haven’t by the weekend then I will be totally deflated and I think the squad will as they need help.

Trouble is he couldn’t keep it up for the whole game even playing ‘in the shop window’ against Premiership Chelsea.

Styles isn’t that type of player.
Styles is our Gazza - and you wouldn’t play him in that role.
We need a Bryan Robson type.
Last one we had was Kenny Dougal.

Woodrow gets in any team we set out. Easily our best player

Styles has the potential to become that sort of player, in my very humble opinion. Dougal - I really liked him, and thought he'd do a job in the Championship. Unfortunately, the management disagreed. Maybe the injury did him more damage than first appeared. Or maybe he just wasn't quite up to it at Championship level.
