Id be surprised if thats the case there is a buyout clause in his contract which rumour has it Red bull were prepared to pay. No way will we sack him so we have to pay him compensation and he goes to New York for free. My guess is that he has already gone and this was his parting shot - but I dont really know. Will be amazed if he picks the team for the game against Bristol.
My guess is that red bull are still in negotiations with him and he's used this as a way to blame someone else for his poor performances in order to command a higher wage
I thought this. Very plausible it's sour grapes that the board are holding up his NY move to make sure they cash in on him. If that's the case, they shouldn't be asking him to take first team matches.
Why would it be sour grapes from the board? I'm not fan of them but if NYRB pay the release clause our board cannot do a thing.
So Struber repeats the words of Stendel and Heckingbottom before him, Well I for one say thank you sir thanks for last season and good luck in your promising career. Now who is going to be the first one to state that these owners are no different to Mr Cryne? Because before you put this money grabbing bunch of business men in the same sentence as Mr Cryne, Just remember who brought the likes of Brownhill, Fletcher, James, Barnes and Hammill (on a free) when our football club needed help!
You misunderstand me. I mean Struber's interview could be his sour grapes that Barnsley's board are stalling and delaying his move to NY. Or could just be that he's off and thought he's slam in some home truths
I'll remember the tears during his post-match presser forever - brings tears to my own eyes just thinking about it. But I can't be dealing with chatter about his imminent departure to (*insert name of team*) every single week. It's clear he's not that committed to BFC. If he's going, go now.
I’m pretty sure you’re right, in that he’s gone. It was just that lingering thought - what if some part of it wasn’t quite agreed, a stumbling block. So Struber was using it as a protest. Perhaps the club want all money up front, but Red Bull say over 2 years etc. It’s usually the finer detail in all these deals that delay or stop matters......
It’s a crying shame imo that the football people whether player , manager or owners put their grievances to the fore to the detriment of the club when it’s the poor faithful fans that get the sh it end of the stick from the fallout . The amount of money that some of them are on matters not when they want to prove a point .
Yeah you're right actually. I wasn't being serious with that one. I think they were genuine but I do question what the reason behind the tears was, I don't think it was joy for the club, I think it was tears of emotion that he'd got away with it and that he would be getting offers for a job which I don't think he'd have got had we gone down.
I’d say it was pure joy of the achievement both for him and a little bit for the club. Do we have anybody here, players or coaching staff, that has the legitimate joy and sadness for the club? I don’t think so. It’s just the way the game is nowadays.
Quite staggering that there are still regulars on here that are prepared to defend the approach of this set of owners. Their actions don't even match their own stated goals, and we continue to lose a succession of talented up and coming coaches due to frustration with our way of doing business. What is the point of their involvement?
When you say coaching staff - I think if you include the likes of Disco and Sir Bobby they would feel genuine joy and sadness depending on how the club is doing.
That’s true, I was thinking more first team coaching staff that are in the dugout each game. Probably should’ve specified that. We won’t see Bobby type loyalty from a player ever again I don’t think.
If we have one slight saving grace, it is that we have a couple of weeks to try & sort this mess out & by this I mean to formulate a plan/ strategy for the club going forward, with the priority being to resolve the HC position one way or the other.
