I do agree with some of what's written, but if Struber was saying his results with that team would have got mid table or higher if he'd started last season with them, why cant he do it this? What did he actually need the backing for? With Daniel it was obvious, he had no experienced defence left. Struber has only had one change.
Yes we all agree but it's only repeating what we've all been saying. There's really nothing we don't already know but at least it is being told to a wider audience, that is if there is anybody interested. Who, apart from us, is slightly bothered about the ins and outs at lil ole Barnsley?
An excellent article. Struber over achieved last season with a couple of shrewd purchases added to a limited squad. Losing Brown was huge. He was so often the outlet, the only forward player capable of winning aerial duels on a regular basis and with energy to burn. Frieser is no replacement. Therefore where is the incremental improvement?
This, again, has reinforced by disillusionment in football, and now it seems even BFC. After over 50 years of riding the roller coaster that is the following Barnsley FC experience, I find myself only drawn to the BB to listen to and engage with (alright....also sometimes argue with) Barnsley followers and get 6their views and opinions on progress, or rather lack of, the club under the current management. Unlike many on here I find it difficult, nay, impossible to separate them from our club which is , sadly, why I have lost interest or any passion on matchdays when it comes to performances and results. This latest debacle from our CEO finally put paid, IMO, to any hope that they have been misunderstood and should be given the benefit of the doubt. No idea what the solution is but they are running this club into the ground.
Yes - I read that on NewsNow Barnsley this morning. Yorkshire Post is on the ball regarding what is happening, or should that be not happening, at Barnsley. Now isn’t that a fine endorsement of the club ?!?!? That newspaper is read throughout the county. At a time when the club should be reaching out to football supporters throughout Yorkshire - we have become just a laughing stock. It’s very sad.
The article is absolutely spot on and echoes the thoughts of most Barnsley fans. The club is in turmoil and isolating itself from the fans. I for one have become increasingly dissoluted to say the least with the current owners . Having followed the reds for over 50years I bought the season ticket I always have done. Last seasons great escape was incredible and I hoped perhaps a lesson had been learned but instead we are going backwards by owners who couldon't give a toss as to the club making progress......
Struber has been backed more than any of the previous managers and has been allowed to sign older players with experience. I’ve said on another thread that his moan about lacking quality was a bit rich given that the players who lacked quality the most were his ‘mates’ who he insisted on picking. However, his system, which was successful, lost a key element to it in Jacob Brown. Arguably the biggest loss he could have suffered. He was the only player with pace to run in behind, tireless energy to lead the press and the only one who could put in a physical challenge in an aerial battle. His attributes to the Struber team were huge and he has not been replaced with anyone who can do any of that. So whilst I think Struber is far from blameless, he’s well entitled to feel disillusioned. He deserved backing and to be strengthened, instead he had a limb cut off.
It detracts from the poor job they are doing. Head coaches always cry louder just before they leave or get the sack. I'm with you... What did he actually need backing for? He has Schmidt who he won't play. He plays Woodrow out of position and leaves Chaplin on the bench and cries for a striker. Struber lost one key player in Brown (who I could take or leave and was a waste of a shirt in the position he was deployed in). He could quite feasibly waited until after the 16th to see if he got "his striker" before chucking his teddy out of the pram. It wouldn't have cost us any league points. I think he sensed the chop.
As per the above, I disagree completely. His shooting was poor, yes, his crossing nearly as bad at times - but he was absolutely vital to the team. I can’t believe people can’t see how much we are missing him. However he should be replaceable - there are players with similar attributes surely. We just haven’t signed one.
Agree to a point but you wonder if Struber has the same agent as Stendel , he quite rightly got plaudits for the job he did last season , he loses a couple of games and suddenly he’s going claiming he hasn’t been backed . It didn’t work out for the duplicitous Stendel, I liked Struber but going to the MSL is a backward step for him ( if that’s where he ends up )
