True - out of those players I would have only kept Green, Sibbick and Dougal at the club.
But the point being - how much is the club saving on wages compared to last season?
It’s not as tho the club is awash with players and wages is it - to the extent that there is no room to bring other players in.

Our squad looks unbelievably threadbare at the minute, but amazingly we have 30 players in it (including all players who have appeared in the first team, plus Christie-Davies and Aitchison).

But of that 30, Ritzmaier, Sibbick, Green and Aitchison are out on loan.

Diaby is suspended and Ben Williams likely out for the season. That brings us to 24.

Wolfe, Marsh, Helliwell and Miller have played one short game as sub and we're told Christie Davies isnt ready. Thats 5 more, bringing us to 19 players.

Adeboyejo sadly isnt up to this level and Palmer has only played a couple of games yet he's being talked of as a possible regular starter because of the lack of experience and quality around. That brings us to 17 players.

Within those 17 we have a very talented kid in Styles who is only just starting his championship career. Simoes likewise. they are going to be erratic and inconsistent. We've got Schmidt who has managed 4 goals in 4 starts... but he's been here over a year. And Bahre hasnt played in ages.

And among the rest of the squad, there are some players massively out of form, or they just don't seem to have any form of consistency.

It looked a weak squad at the end of last season and then we lost a lot of players, most who had already been frozen out by Struber.

Whoever the next coach is, he's got a huge job on his hands to turn that group into a bunch that can pull away from the relegation places. The energy is there, and the attitude, but we're desperate for our quality players to find their form and to add much needed creativity and further quality to that squad.

    Interesting thread.

It would be nice for a new manager to come in and play 4-4-2 and attack down the flanks. The trouble is, we've gotten rid of all our wide players to suit a single style of defensive football.

I'd like to see Halme back in to sit in midfield to allow Mowatt to push forward, with Oduor and Styles on one flank with Williams and I suppose Frieser on the other.

Imperative we bring in someone who can play right side of midfield.

couldn't you post the same post every season
sure someone did this last year and probably the year before that and was the same situation
only a few of the players still here from the previous season
to be honest its a shock if a player gets to the end of one full season he must be either no good or he's already been sold or he's been sent out on loan somewhere never to be heard from again.

How things are progressing I can see us starting games at the end of the season with a 231 formation.

Wilks, McGeehan and Dougall would all strengthen us right now.

Sad state of affairs, problem is now that the current squad has very little quality & very little in what can be sold on for profit.
The churn of buy cheap & sell on will cease. the owners will not generate funds for the club to survive & then that's when it gets really serious, even more serious than the shambles we currently find ourselves in...

Let's try and make Dane understand in language he gets. At the moment our divisional retention is being enjeopardangered. We have an inadequate farm system, our draft picks aren't up to it and we urgently need to make incoming trades in de-fence and of-fence, as well as the middle sector, before the trade deadline. Some of our better players are also approaching unrestricted free agency and so without a full urgent re-tooling before the trade deadline we will tank into divisional extraction and our market size will diminish further. Have a nice day.
