Would he have stayed if Struber was still in charge? I suspect not.

Interesting point, I must say it’s been quite clear to everyone that he’s not looked his best in the last months...makes you wonder how much of that was to do with Struber now he’s committed to the club with a new deal

we will probably never know but its certainly a good question and a very plausible one. Hopefully with James and Kane to bolster our midfield we dont need to play Cawley there and can put him back into a goalscoring position

Also hopefully Mowatt will sign an extension now Cauley has.

Do you know I was just thinking when Struber spoke about needing more upfront was he thinking Woodrow was going?

Great player Woodrow but he’s always been one to wander as many have pointed out, so question of who we partner him with remains. It’s not gonna be a big lad which is a shame. Still quality and class are not temporary so let’s have faith

I was just thinking that. Maybe Struber leaving was the best thing that could have happened this transfer window. We were going nowhere and clearly he didn't want to be here.

It’s great news he’s re signed and the OP makes a good point. For me he’s the brightest footballer at the Club both in terms of his own game and how he brings others in. He’s also the best goal scorer. We are not scoring goals. Get him up front.

What other options did he have ?
Did anyone come in for him
Championship or League 1 , i presume not
if they did they did not meet the required valuation which if true was 2.5 million.
which most on here seem to think was a joke especially for a striker playing in the championship the most prized position in terms of a players worth.
i presume he has bills a mortgage and a lifestyle based on his wages ,so he has secured that money for two years.
if he refused to sign a contract which could mean him being frozen out and possibly then forgotten about by other clubs looking for a player in the future

And what does it actually change what's the downside for him
he cant leave if nobody is prepared to pay the amount the club want ,he's secured his immediate future money wise , and he can still be sold in the next transfer window if he was to start knocking the goals in and other clubs start to take notice

I’m not sure on the question posed but I’m very glad he’s still here.

Let’s hope he can bag against his former club tomorrow!

    hilarious arent you
He had 2 years left on his contract - absolutely no rush to do anything - Cardiff would have signed him if he was out of contract for a start and I suspect some other Championship clubs would have if he was going for free - he has taken the security of I assume an improved paydeal on a longer contract and I cant imagine the club have reduced the buyout clause so its good for both sides but it was hardly something he had no option on - he could easily have waited until next Summer before deciding anything

Might give Mowatt the chance to move into a more advanced midfield position with James, Palmer or even Halme taking the holding position.

Said exactly the same, wouldn't surprise me at all if Cauley was pleased to see Struber leave.

I was just saying the same to my work colleague today. It can’t have done his confidence any good when he openly made comments about the need for new strikers

What does it tell you about recruitment this window after he’s gone too? All British born transfers. I dare say Struber might’ve said no to all 3 if it was his final say. He would’ve pushed for an overseas signing, that’s for sure

Tbf to Struber we don't know who he wanted. I do agree though that his comments maybe didn't exude confidence in our strikers

The international window was closed. That’s why British players were brought in. Nothing to do with Struber.
