I wonder if Donny were expecting us to come back in. Or even hoping we’d come back in. Reason I say this is them signing a similar player in Matt Smith on loan last night. I hope there we’re some shouting about in the boardroom yesterday when they saw us sign Herbie Kane for over a million instead.
Bet Whiteman is gutted his wages would have been getting doubled or trebled compared to what Donny can afford to pay him and he wouldn’t have even needed to move home really.
My Donny supporting mate tells me Ben Whiteman already had his ‘home’ hooked up on the back of his Transit Van and had a pitch booked on Grange Lane.
Just thinking that as well. If we offered Donny over a million and that was "quite a way off their valuation" how much did they actually want? Sounds like they wanted nearly £2Million perhaps. I think we've got the better part of the bargain now with Kane
Yeah I totally agree, rumours were last season they batted away 3million from Hull. Can’t see that myself. If we went in with 2 million I believe they would’ve snapped our hand off. As to Kane I agree with you, I’d much rather us go with his limited championship experience over a gamble on Whiteman.
Leave them to it, they lost £1.85m last season, £2.79m the season before and owe Club Doncaster (their directors company) £6.4m. They may be praying someone comes in for him in January if we've still no crowds.
I heard that the stumbling block was he wanted a caravan in periwinkle blue for his ma but theh couldn't find any in tarn
Reckon we'll go back in January with a low bid and if that fails sign a pre contact agreement for the summer with him and get him for nowt
