as for re-installing software -i would use windows disk and ask for repair 1st may be f2, just in case on shutdown causing corrupt h/drive. also if everything ok go into safe mode and reload older version of system restore good luck

Cheers folk, think I will do a clean install, like I said I've never done a straight swop of motherboards & the version of Windows I have has the drivers for a MSI B450, I'm upgrading to a B550.

I’d expect to need to re-license windows. They don’t normally like when you upgrade motherboard - it assumes it’s a new PC and invalidates the license. Drivers should automatically install though.

Do you get any error beeps.......

I would take out graphics card, memory, drives et al and try switching on from there and note any error beeps (assuming it's got a speaker on the board). I take it you repasted the CPU when you swapped over

Have you looked on YouTube for boot loop fix? There’s loads of tricks to stop it. I fixed mine, but can’t remember the video... or how I did it.

Well then, finally up & running, I put it down to a faulty PSU, replaced it & now we're up & running. Got a new motherboard out of it though so not all bad :D
