Good catalyst for a good thread RR. Having read the varying opinion on here with much interest it seems that us fans are still undecided on what will be the best system with this group.
Having listened to VI's long interview just now it does seem as though he will solve the perennial problem of the Number 10...by not playing one.
So - if he is going for 343 rather than the diamond my pick tonight would be, if the injured are fit:

    Walton
    Solly Anderson Helik
    Brittain James Mowat Williams
    Frieser. Woodrow. Chaplin.

    COYR.

ps hope you post the MR post match.

Be good if you could let me know what the new boss said in that interview. 30 seconds in I lost the will to live, hope his team talks are more up beat

    :):)o_O....well observed Redken!
To be fair to him, he didn't have much choice as he was asked all the usual cliched questions; to which he gave all the usual cliched answers. My take on him was...nice smile Valerien, but is there something dark and sinister lurking beneath??!! Complete and utter hypothesis but he looks like he's not one to be crossed.:mad:

With the personnel we have I'm unsure what system would actually suit us.

3-4-3 would suit Oduor and Brittain as they both like to bomb on - and the 3 centre halves will provide ample cover for them. However it means we only have places for 2 of Mowatt, James, Styles, Palmer and Kane.

We have no natural wide men at the minute, so 4-4-2 is out.

4-2-3-1 would allow a midfield 2 of James and Mowatt with Kane as the Number 10. But it could leave Woodrow isolated if he's up front on his own.

Hopefully our new gaffer hits the ground running. Tonight looks like a 3-4-3.

Depends on the 3-4-3. There's an expectation with one way to play the system that Brittain and Oduor would come in central and the width comes from Frieser/Chaplin. But at the same time can come from Styles/Mowatt overlapping once the full backs have cut inside.

Be interesting to see how he works it tonight.

I always imagined it like Wolves play (or played last season) with Doherty and Jonny as the wide wing backs and Neves/Mourinho in the middle.

    Excited to be honest tonight.

If it's similar to how Struber played it then it's like Chelsea where the full backs tuck in or go wide. Ludewig and Williams were doing it a lot.

Feeling positive right now. Likely less so come 7:15pm knowing us.

Yes, there will be a Minority Report. I hope that both the Report and the game live up to expectations.

    Never in doubt.

Couldn't really judge the formation fully due to the sending off, but I really like Brittain in this system.

Styles did well second half too on the left.

It wasn't really full backs playing as wingers bombing on but we definitely had width and looked a really good side. Saying that though, the first 20 minutes was probably the worst we've played all season. Bizarre start to the game.

Brittain was MOTM for me and Styles is such a quality and tidy player.

Is it only me who thinks Frieser was signed to replace Brown? Not saying he's as good but sure that was the intention.

No, you're not the only one. When he signed it was suggested that he was a forward who could play up front, or on the right. Sounded familiar...

I loved the way he told one journalist that he'd already answered the question he asked. Have a feeling he wont be brow beaten and will say what he means
