If you take away the government - who we probably all agree get up to some naughty stuff - the Chinese/far Asian culture values the life of older people more than kids. So the people would be more willing than Westerners to take the steps to protect the elderly. So that helps in places like Taiwan and Japan who have less totalitarian governments.
First thing you have to do is understand its the entire metropolitian borough that make up Barnsleys stats. Upwards of 225k people... Second you look at where the cases are. Are they random or clustered. If its clustered you look at the popualtion demographic. For example if the stats suggested the cluster was around stocks lane/farrar street it could be that the cases are from cramped multi family households who also work in similar busy environments eg Premier Foods car share etc. If it was the posher end say Penistown or Cawthorne youd be looking schools being the potential epicentre. If its random are any of the cases by parties related. Eg going to see freinds or family.
If we do full lockdown again, wouldn’t that also save people’s lives who would otherwise have died of flu? So, if we had a Government who would protect people financially, wouldn’t it be even more useful than the last one? Just a question, not saying we should or that we should lockdown every winter then.
192 hospital deaths in England announced today, so at 4 pm when we get the all settings total for the UK it's going to be another horrible number. 1 of the deaths being in Barnsley.
That's terrible. I'm 55 myself, but haven't really worried about COVID, although have taken all normal precautions.
I notice your posts have now changed over the past few days and have suddenly stopped being anti lockdown...
I think a proper lockdown better than the first one we had back in March would give us a better chance of salvaging some kind of Christmas and new year. Boris doing nothing the hope of the nation is dwindling all the time that this year it will spent away from those we want to spend it with. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/cases?areaType=ltla&areaName=Barnsley Barnsley need far more help with testing. Kirklees are up to over 10000 daily tests now thousands hire than Barnsley and we aren't (yet) in tier 3.
Or it could be that ‘posher end say Penistone and Cawthorne’ don’t effectively practice social distancing
I doubt there are many 3 bedroom houses in Cawthorne or Penistone with 6 adults under the roof. Or many HMOs...
According to the latest figures, Wilthorpe, Barugh Green and Dodworth are the worst areas in Barnsley... https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/19718/local-covid-19-cases-rocket
Or the Chestnut Tree and Dodworth Valley... School will have played a part - but some of the lower incidence areas also have schools and pubs. - Definitely Wombwell, Darfield Birdwell and Barnsley centre
