A half decent championship centre forward short of being a more than competent side at this level. If we could win and retain the ball up top we’d give most sides a game. I was impressed and encouraged today in that we could win a game against a decent squad without ever really playing well. On another day we might not keep a clean sheet - but the back three and keeper look solid and better each game, we have balance and quality in midfield - we just look very light up top.
Ah the centre forward we’ve had 15 months and several transfer windows to find, or even try to find (which we haven’t) since Big K left
A big lad up there would be good - but one who could put himself about, be a bit stronger on the ball and maybe play with his back to goal would be a start. Doesnt necessarily have to be massive, just strong. If we could retain the ball for a few seconds, bring runners from midfield into the game, even lay it backwards instead of being shrugged off and losing it every time, I think we’d do some damage. Certainly not relegation fodder.
Yep, bit negligent not getting any kind of decent striker in, really could hamper our chances. Even if it was a loan till december, gives us more options. 3 games ago i thought we were a relegation certainty, now I dont think we are, but lots of graft to do and this new gaffer seems mint.
Agree very much to a point. However, we've looked transformed as a team since GS left under Murray and Ismael, playing with a bit more freedom and scoring goals. So it's all about the system for me and we do have some very good players to play in that system. VI has only been here a week and has us looking a lot stronger defensively whilst increasing the attacking options as well. Yes we could do with the type of player you are suggesting and also with Championship level experience, but then it looks like at least 20 other teams in this division are as well. Also they don't come cheap, we know our club isn't going to spend > £3 Million on one player and that's what it would take I think to acquire such a player with the relevant experience. Look at QPR and Landon Sykes - he was £2Million - and I don't think he's good enough at this level yet. Valerien will know what we need already, but he's got to work with what we've got in my opinion. Let's see what improvements he can make to the system and the tactics then have a look in the January transfer window. The future's bright - the future's Valerien Steel.
The only 2 players I know of in the English game who fit the description of supporters, are Keiffer Moore and Oli McBurnie. There doesn't seem to be a lot of players who play that way at the moment in the EFL. Probably wrong and misinformed, usually am.
A see that Sandro kulunovic who we nearly signed as got 3 goals in 5 games for his new club with 2 of them coming in the Europa league maybe he could have been the final piece in the jigsaw.
