Rumours circulating that its more than 90% effective but they are downplaying it to stop everyone getting too excited. Could be a huge step in the return to normality.
Brilliant news and a positive start to the week. Still plenty we don't know though such as how often the jab would have to be taken and the 10% or so who caught Covid even with the vaccine what level of ill they were like if anyone died or nobody knew they had it etc.
Me and the mrs have been developing a vaccine to be trialled by mps called rit paison. I must stress we are not scientists but we hope to win a billion dollar government contract by promising it will work one day.
Whilst it's very good news it's good that so many experts are airing caution as well until we know more. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...tent&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter
Great news for the elderly/at risk, but as a healthy younger person I probably won't be queuing up to have it until longer term studies and tests are complete.
Brilliant news. 50 million by end of year and 1.8 billion by end of next year. I wonder how 'they' will decide who gets it first? 1.8bn sounds like a huge number, but it's still only 25% global population.
I imagine all of those 50 million will be distributed in the US, then the rest of the world in 2021. I wonder if there was an opportunity to pay to be at the front of the queue - with american pharma companies, I bet there was!
Thanks for that. Shouldn't NHS & front line health professionals be top of the list? Or are we assuming that's just a given?
According to that, NHS staff don't qualify unless they are in a higher risk bracket. You'd think so, but.... And probably #0 is Tory MPs, SPADs and cronies...
NHS staff should be at the top of the list, but we're assuming that the UK will get the vaccine. With only 50Million doses (25Million people) this year, it's very unlikely until next year when it goes into mass production
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/health/covid-vaccine-update-coronavirus-news-b1719683.html Boris has recently gone about how different things will be in spring, but with Sir John Bell saying it that's a big positive as he doesn't make big predictions just for fun. 10 million doses by the end of 2020 so five million of our most vulnerable can be looked after and we have hope of another four million Oxford vaccines too, which the PM may mention at 5 pm.
I don’t even take the free flu jab when it’s offered every year and I’m certainly not having this kind of experimental drug pumped into my system. I’ll take my chances, thanks.
