Compulsory vaccinations

While I acknowledge the right of each and every person to make their own decision, I'd have the vaccine later this evening if it were available. One thing I don't understand though, those that won't have it until it's been fully tested, who do they want it to be tested on? Surely someone has to bite the bullet somewhere?

 

How do you fully test long term effects in 6 months? I think that for the young and healthy there's a good chance that taking a hurried vaccine might be more harmful than the possibility of exposure to covid

 

I've already had Covid-19 so I'm happy to donate my dose of vaccine to anyone on here who would like to feel doubly safe.

 

I've no idea how it's supposed to be tested. My point is that those who won't take it today appear to be relying on other people to take the inevitable risk for them. That's the concept I'm struggling with. If everyone refused to have until it was fully tested, how would it be tested?

It's analogous to people who only eat food they've had before, or only listen to music they've heard before. It doesn't make sense to me at all.

 

I think the timescale is a bit of a red herring. You could test something for years and it could be unsafe. There would be such an uproar if say everybody's 4th finger fell off due to the vaccine that there would have to be compensation , legal waiver or not if the pharmacist companies haven't followed due diligence. I'm happy to take the vaccine when it's available
I would imagine pregnant women may well not be encouraged to take it.

 

Just because you've had it doesn't mean you can't contract it again. There have been a few instances of people catching the virus twice

 

That's one issue that concerns me. Since I look like I'm expecting triplets, I'm worried that they might not let me have it.

 

As unpleasant as it was, I know what to expect with Covid though and I’d happily take my chances of getting it again now that I know my body can deal with it, rather than expose myself to the possible risks associated with an untested vaccine.

 

When the happy event due?

 

I know what you mean about the vaccine, until a few (Milllion?) people have been given it and found to haven't had any side affects, then a lot of people will be sceptical.

 

Any time now I hope, I've been gestating for about 12 years.

 

I understand that but isn't the difference that those who are part of the test are monitored closely, have medical experts on hand and in the early stages at lest are in laboratory controlled conditions. Once it's been released without adequate testing you're jabbed in the arm and sent off into the wild.

 

That's the case in quite a few countries. Its been this way in Cyprus for months.

 

Be interesting to find out if an employer can justify terminating an employee for not taking the vaccine

 

Is that necessarily the case though? Surely the risk of getting it again might mean you get a worse case of it?

 

I doubt they could.

 

And I won't have any sympathy and will be signing petition after to petition to stop you claiming from the public purse when you're riddled with cancer.

 

Possibly so, but still, someone has to volunteer to have it. I put my name forward a couple of months ago as a willing volunteer, but apart from regular email updates I've heard nothing. Each to their own of course, but I hope this vaccine gets rolled out quickly, as the alternative is not working at all.
