They are already my second club, followed closely by Inverness Caledonian Thistle, as mi grandad came from the Wrexham area. Hope it works out well.
In the late 70's / early 80's they were arguably the most successful Welsh club. Their exploits in the Cup Winners Cup were worth following. Swansea & Cardiff both had poor sides at the time. They probably have a chance of getting back to a third tier club with the right investment.
I remember trying to go see Blyth Spartans play Wrexham in an FA Cup replay in 1978 at St James' Park Newcastle and being locked out. Apparent;y the ground was full. I lived in South Gosforth about 2/3 miles from the ground and as we walked down the street we heard the roar when Spartans scored. https://blythspirit.wordpress.com/2...ns-v-wrexham-fa-cup-5th-round-replay-1977-78/
Thrown me that mate. I always had the impression the non league v div 3 attendance record was Enfield v Barnsley. Certainly not based on those figures. .
Thread here about the economics of why they’ve taken over. (Click on the tweet to see the rest of it) Could be a masterstroke for all involved
Saw that a few days ago (that they were on with it) I they looked at non league for a sleeping giant type club to hopefully get it back to it’s former glories, and obviously get a story out of it. It’s nice that somebody further down the pecking order getting a boost.
I thought they were 2nd division, but you're right, they actually got promoted to division 2 that season.
I thought clubs were for the fans not the owners? I get them wanting to milk who they are owned by but can you imagine our new away kit being released with a tweet that said Chien Lee and Paul Conway' Barnsley FC #uproar
Don’t see a problem with them leveraging their fame for commercial purposes personally. An easy and harmless way to put money into the club without breaking FFP and without having to put the money in themselves.
Wonder how much he's on to be willing to drop two divisions in to non league..... https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk/news/s...mullin-signs-three-year-deal-with-wrexham-afc
