I wasn't accepting wrong doings at all. I'm merely trying to say don't do wrong in the first place

Simply because if this was a line manager in any other organisation that had been found by an independent investigation to have bullied subordinates they would be at least be demoted but if as in the Patel case it wasn't the first instance of it being proved would definitely have been sacked. This country has elected a corrupt prime minister who is without morals or integrity who has surrounded himself with either like minded or weak minded individuals and it will regret that decision for a very very long time

I said last December we would rue the day if Boris took over. I would have liked to have been proved wrong, but unfortunately I haven't

    Sieg Heil.

These lot have ridden roughshod over parliamentary standards & over English law too. They make rules & don't abide by them themselves.
They would probably still win an election if one were called today. I'm not sure if that says more about the electorate or the Labour Party.

I'm fairly sure with Biden in the White House there will be a row back on Brexit & a last minute face saving deal, as that is the cliff edge that will finish them if no deal is reached. The Jingoism will be over & the rise in prices, due to tariffs on imported goods & the high levels of unemployment will cause all but the most dyed in the wool working class Tory smell the coffee I suspect.

Patel is a hateful, bullying little goblin who has broken Ministerial Code twice now. Johnson should grow some ******** for once in his overprivileged life and send her packing. Of course, he won't do this, it'll be forgotten about and the same people who voted Tory last time will do so again in a few years time.

I disagree, there are some great MPs. Not in the cabinet though & it could be better.

I live in Headingley & Alex Sobel is an outstanding MP, both on a national & local level. To tar every MP with the same brush leaves you in the place where democracy no longer counts. Look over the pond to a man who can't accept defeat & really looks for civil unrest.

Unlike the majority on here who must know her, or at the very least met her personally and experienced her bullying ways ,to know the full facts and therefore are able to confirm she is "vile", "evil" " odious" , the rest of us, in a less fortunate position have to go on what we simply read in the papers and media and we all know they love to stir up sh*t as it sells papers.

Whilst we cannot discount the findings of the report, there were a couple of rather telling comments contained within it.

"Her approach on occasions has amounted to behaviour that can be described as bullying in terms of the impact felt by individuals.

"To that extent her behaviour has been in breach of the ministerial code, even if unintentionally."

However, he added that the home secretary had "legitimately - not always felt supported by the department".

"In addition, no feedback was given to the home secretary of the impact of her behaviour, which meant she was unaware of issues that she could otherwise have addressed."

Whilst that in no way excuses behaviour described e.g. shouting, swearing and creating fear, the context of trying to shake-up the establishment is relevant

Within the hierarchy of Senior Civil servants there is a simple fact that they have resisted change and modernisation for many years
One of the most senior Sir Philip Rutnam, who I am sure is a 'big boy' feels she forced him out. Hmmm!! One has to question whether that was the real reason or he was not prepared to, or could not face changes in the way the Home Office is structured . Their record is not exactly good when it comes to immigration matters over the past several decades.
The lack of feedback suggest that someone was looking for an excuse to remove her rather than get her to modify her behaviour. When it comes to constructive dismissal that Sir Philip Rutnam is claiming I am sure the Civil Service would be required to have disciplinary hearings to highlight behaviour issues or breaches to the transgressor and only after two or three warnings if no action was taken then he would be jsutified in claiming such. If he simply felt bullied and did nothing except resign then it seems more like a crude attempt by the CS to maintain the status quo.

Now before everyone starts in on calling me 'Tory Boy' and being abusive' All I am saying is that she may well be being labelled correctly, but for many on here it is heresay. Also the same people rushing to condemn her over her attitude to the Home Office Senior staff in some case are the same people have rightly condemned the Home Office uncaring, aloof, often insensitive uncaring attitudes and decisions over deportations and right to remain. for migrants. T hey are not exactly innocent victims when it comes to bullying tactics. Finally I have seen first hand the attitudes and behaviour of some Senior Civil Servants to subordinates and they are not all exactly squeaky clean themselves. Whilst I never observed swearing on one or two occasions they could be quite intimidating and bullying in other ways. I saw one or two quite Senior staff coming out of meetings somewhat flushed and 'flustered'. The loudest critics are the opposition parties and Civil Servants Unions obviously making as much political capital out of this as possible.

“Whilst we cannot discount the findings of the report” .....then goes on to find reason to discount it......

the loudest critic was the independent investigation. The one whose head felt the need to resign when the person who is paid to act on it ignored it.

you could have just saved your self an hour there.

I like how you say none of us know her and the facts etc. and shouldn't trust the media, and then launch into wild speculation about a civil service conspiracy against her without a shred of evidence.

    Absolutely bang on the money.

Regardless of anyone’s political stance, the Civil Service, right at the top in London, are just a bunch of dinosaurs and predominantly male and white. Race and gender shouldn’t come into it, but it does these days. The FA, The BBC, ITV etc. All making changes for better representation.

The Whitehall dinosaurs resist change, stuck in their ways, and are just hanging on to their final pay days and pension. They even get knighted on the way up along with brandy and cigars in the old boys club.

Of course, there’s also a number of decent folk too there, who work hard and are open to modernisation.

Local councils across the board can also be criticised of this at the top levels.

Again - regardless of your political alignment, this system needs to be overhauled and modernised. This was Priti Patel’s remit. She’s made good in-roads into this. Maybe she could have handled it better, but likely she was forced into behaving like this.

A young, Asian female trying to run and change an old-boys club was always going to create issues like this. She’s got the balls to speak up to them though. That’s what I pay my tax for, so good on her.

And if these old boys don’t like shouting and swearing in the work place, they need to wake up and get a real job.

    Over & Out.
