his save in the first half where he made himself big as they shot from a tight angle was exactly the same as the training video put up this week. Quality keeper.
Agree, hard to believe last season we brought in collins young highly rated ex Chelsea keeper, raldinger for the season and for most of the season before the lockdown jack was 3rd choice when he was the best at the club.
First keeper we've had in a while that doesn't make me feel nervous with one or more aspects of his game. He's a bit of an all-rounder, in my opinion.
Great keeper. I’ve had my doubts in the past but since he came in against QPR post lockdown break, he’s been superb and gained us a fair few points.
He's turning out to be a great goalkeeper. I think he could be our number 1 for years, but alas the bigger clubs will come calling soon unfortunately. We need to turn these offers down for our best players abd we can make decent progress. Don't know why we bought Radlinger when we've got this kid playing like this. Keep up the good work Jack
Brave blocks on two occasions when faced one on one, with their striker, and then that rapid reaction save from Lyle Taylor's header. A major part in our win today.
OK - I'll change my sentence to: We didn't need Radlinger when we've got this kid playing like this. Keep up the good work Jack
I watched him a bit in the U23s and it struck me how vocal he was with his defence, think his confidence has really grown and he's taken his opportunity well. So much of goalkeeping in down to confidence and belief in yourself. Look at Butland, lost his big time at Stoke.
He's big too. It's a great advantage to have. Often a young keeper will make a mistake and it will prey on their confidence leading to a run of mistakes. Walton has made so few and they've never come in clusters. On the rare occasion he has made an error it doesn't appear to have affected him at all. It's difficult not to like him and not get carried away about how good he could be. Looks like a star in the making, hopefully we keep hold of him longer than we have been able to keep hold of other talented young players.
I’ll put my hands up I didn’t think he was ever likely to make a championship keeper. Wasn’t sold on him when we were in league one & he deputised for Davies when he was with Wales. I thought it was the right decision to have 2 keepers sign after Davies left & expected Walton to be sold or loaned out. I don’t think I was the only one, I can’t remember there been much criticism of us signing both Radlinger & Collins at the time.
I agree. Collins had impressed at Burton and having seen Radlinger at the training session on the open day could see why Daniel wanted him in order to play out from the back. But as everyone knows, you don't plot a line in terms of development, you can plateau or develop very quickly. Walton appears to have done the latter, worked hard with the u23s under Disco and its all coming together nicely for him and the team.
