Just noticed on EFL on quest that Bournemouth have goal line technology installed, is that because they have it from coming down from Premier League?
Really? I can’t recall seeing it used in any games other than that one. Unless iv missed every one other than that lol
It's not something that you'd notice being used to be honest. The referee receives a signal to his watch if the ball crosses the line and therefore awards a goal. We've had a couple given for and against us in the last few years using the tech. Not sure who we played, but there was an instance where the referee signalled clearly to his watch to award a goal for us. Not sure it it was last season, or the last time we were in the champ. There was a thing about us not having the correct lighting so that it could be used during night games, but I think they sorted that a few years ago now.
Its been an undisputed success - unlike the VAR - All championship sides have it but it is not used in L1 and L2. As archey says above there has been the odd goal awarded or denied in games we have played in in the Championship in the last 3 seasons. The fact you barely notice it it speaks volumes. I too remember at least one instance where the ref has signalled it has been used by pointing at his watch. As far as I know there is only one decision it may have got wrong since introduction - in a recent premier league game where the ball was hidden by bodies and a goal should have been given but wasnt
Whats the frame rate of the goal line tech cameras' Styles shot went in so fast I bet the hawkeye system hasnt got a clear shot of it crossing the line
Barnsley have supposed to have got it, that's why they put extra floodlights on both stands above goals
There is no suppose about it , they & all other clubs in the Championship have to have it , it is a condition of playing in the top two leagues , the prem & the championship .
I can confirm that there is definitely goal line technology at Oakwell. I was there when they were installing it pre season. I got a guided explanation on how it works. At the North end there are two cameras at the top of the North Stand and one each on the West and East stand. Even though they are not hidden in any way, you would not notice them unless someone was pointing them out to you, as was the case with me.
There's more than one on the west stand isn't there? When we were in the championship last time I thought there were two of them
Oli McBurnie scored a header for us against Brentford in a win towards the end of our 2018 relegation season. A defender tried to clear it off the line, but the referee clearly indicated that the technology had told him it was over the line.
