According to Barnsley FC Stats on Twitter Cauley is now up to 39 goals for the reds, only 9 behind Sam Winnall. I'd really love to see him overtake Winnall as our top modern day goalscorer. If we can keep hold of him for the season he should do!
Another good stat: Jack Walton has reached 11 clean sheets in the second tier for The Reds in the second fewest appearances (23) of any ‘keeper to play for the club.
Another one: Valérien Ismaël is now the second Reds boss to win his first three second tier home fixtures without conceding a goal. Norman Hunter beat Shrewsbury Town 4-0, Bolton Wanderers 3-0 & Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in 1981 to become the first
I fhink he will end up with just above 50 by the end of the season ( I think the transfer market will be completely flat for Championship clubs in January) which will put him above most and within reach of Dyer on 69. i can’t see him staying beyond the season to overtake Bruce unfortunately
You make a logical point sir. The only problem is you are talking about championship club finances and there is no logic.
Not official source for goals in all competitions, but it should be pretty accurate for top 20. Hine 137 Lilycrop 107 Chappell 95 Glavin 92 Halliwell 83 Fletcher 83 Redfearn 83 Bartlett 78 Curran 73 Ashton 73 Tufnell 70 Dyer 67 Wallbanks 65 Eaton 61 Butler 60 Evans (J) 59 Baxter 58 Brown 58 Kaye 57 Wainscoat 56
To put Cauley into perspective he has scored more goals for Barnsley in his career than Ashley Ward Neil Shipperley Mike Sheron Andy Liddell did in theirs.
I’ve said a couple of times now that I’ve had my season ticket since the mid 2000s and he’s the best striker/goalscorer I’ve seen in my time. Let’s hope he stays long enough and keeps the form up to carry on moving up the list.
