Brentford are the best team we've played this season, in my opinion. Having said that, I couldn't see them scoring, either. Toney took his chance well, but for once our marking let us down in a dead ball situation.
The Brentford defence looked solid throughout, until Adeboyejo began running at them. The penalty was so obvious that I can't believe anyone (other than the incompetent referee) would fail to give it.
I'd give my MOTM to Sollbauer, closely followed by Walton.
Brush ourselves off and go again at Blackburn on Saturday.

Never seem to be so sharp for night games historically.

As much as I'm disappointed by our performance, I don't think Brentford created anything much from open play, either.

I watched a different game then, as he covered a great deal for Brittain down the right all game and was commanding in the box.
Still, seeing as he's your whipping boy now that Bahre is injured and out of the picture, I understand your post.:)

    Errrrmmmm.
I think it was us that made Brentford look like the best team we’ve played.
    Agree re: Victor.

Agree with Solly as MOTM, closely followed by Walton. Brittain played well too. Midfield & forwards were poor tonight, No composure. I get the moving the ball forwards quickly brief. Overall it works for us, but we were wasteful tonight. Still should have had a penalty & maybe a scrappy draw.

We were nowhere near our best and credit for that goes to Brentford. As I said, it's my opinion Brentford are the best team I've seen us play in the league this season.
As for our Head Coach, I've been impressed with the start of his Barnsley career so far. An example of Valerien Ismael's influence at the club is that Victor Adeboyejo looks a much improved player.

Yes, I'd written the lad off, which just shows what an influence a good coach can make.

This coach can't see that Chaplin is hit and miss and Frieser is babba. If he's that confident in Adeboyejo why doesn't he start him. Another thing that concerns me is Bramall is rattling them in for the under 23's and is nowhere near the first team.

Perhaps he has a different opinion to you with regards to Chaplin & Frieser?

I am sure I read last week that Ishmael was suggesting that Bramhall would be getting involved with the first team in the next few weeks & that he needed to work on his pressing & off the ball stuff , therefore i think you might be wrong with the nowhere near the first team bit , we will see .

I won't slate the new Head Coach too much because he's won us four matches but the two we've lost have been poor performances devoid of ideas. The same players are playing ***** yet still getting in the squad. Frieser offers nothing. I accept Chaplin is a different proposition because when he's on it he's decent. That said you can see when he is having a mare quite early on in games. Yet he's never hauled off.

Yet again, nobody on the back post. It would have been an easy clearance for the fullback standing on the post like in the olden days....

Having only being here about a month, I'm sure Valerien Ismael is still learning about the players he has at his disposal in various situations. I'm certainly not as keen to jump on the bandwagon to criticise him as some.
Perhaps he'll freshen the side up a little bit on Saturday. I'll be honest enough to admit I don't have the answers that some seem convinced they do, but that's the beauty of a message board. Everyone should be able to express their opinions (within Site Admin's rules), but it's a two way street. Other posters can equally challenge, perhaps even mock, anyone else's viewpoints & interpretations.

It was a disappointing game BigLil indeed I have to agree. Brentford are far and away the best team we've played this season and both teams cancelled each other out, so it shows how far we've come recently as they hammered us at home last season. We're now disappointed to lose, rather than expecting to lose. The signs of upward progression are still there, in my opinion as it's only the 4th goal we've conceded at home in 12 games since lockdown ended.

In fact we should have had a point, or at least a penalty kick to try and gain the point. Blatant handball deemed not worthy of a penalty by the incompetent referee. The least said the better about that.

Solly definitely had a great game, holding us together at the back, great shout for MOTM.

As you say, brush ourselves down and on to Blackburn...

Opposite YN. Brentford closed us down, offered us no width for Brittain and Styles - therefore our attacking threat was limited BY BRENTFORD. They created next to nothing either

Chaplin might be hit and miss, but he got double figures last season, and only he and Mowatt have two goals from open play in the league this season. He is one of our main goal threats. Unfortunately, him and Woodrow as a two has never seemed to work, otherwise would seem a no brainer to go 3-5-2 and put an extra midfielder on for Frieser.

Ismael will know plenty about Frieser from last season, and will have a fair idea of what he has to offer. But at the moment, I'm not sure Adeboyejo, Thomas, Schmidt, Miller or Simoes are at a level to be regular starters either.
