Changes for Saturday

Firstly I'd rest Matty James, who I thought was quite subdued against Brentford, and give Herbie Kane a start.

Alternatively, replace Matty James with Callum Styles in centre midfield, and then bring in Clarke Oduor at left wing-back.

Finally, give Victor a start to replace Dom Frieser.

 

It might be time to rotate a couple in, we looked a bit leggy on Tuesday for some reason. Your changes make sense.

 

Would the presence of Vic and Miller either side of Woodrow help?
I don't think Thomas is a sub for any of the front 3.
James and Mowatt are still ahead of Kane and Styles, just but Kane or Styles are too good for the bench.
J Williams played LWB effectively before but for me Odour should play there as he is a LWB.
If formation has to stay push Kane and Styles further forward with Woodrow.
James Mowatt Styles Kane somehow need to play together.

 

We risk Kane taking the wtf have I got myself into here attitude.

 

He's been at Doncaster. He'll get his chances.

There’s not a lot wrong. A narrow defeat to a side better than us & all of a sudden people want changes.

If people are struggling with knocks then freshen it up but with the exceptions of Kane getting a game or J. Williams going into the back 3 I think any other changes weaken us.

 

Really? He's a 22 year old, that's played one season at league 1 level. Now getting appearances in the Championship, and likely to get starts given the schedule.

 

That's what the commentary team said and it baffled me. They have just come back from a two week rest, can use five subs and it is same for every team.

I think James is looking leggy coupled with dare I say a loss of form cue Kane to come in. I'd also like to see Christie Davies and Bramall for Chaplin at some point because Mowatt is hit and miss too. You can't afford people to go missing in the middle of the park and up front.

 

I would like Styles to start in central midfield, he gives more drive and energy, we seem a bit pedestrian with James and Mowatt. I agree with start with Victor and Clarke. Blackburn are a better team than others think and are top scorers, I think. It will be difficult to get a win .

 

It was tactical to sit back and make our half congested to stop Brentford playing....

 

Palmer would be the most obvious replacement for James

 

It was, but even when we got the ball we looked slow and lethargic compared to our usual selves. We didn't get forward very quickly allowing possession to be easily regained by Brentford

 

Good shout. I just think now we've all vvanked ourselves dry over James it's been a bit of an anti climax when people have realised he offers little more than link up play.

 

Since he's come in he's been one of our best players. He's played a huge part in our wins, clean sheets and allowing Mowatt to play where he should have been under Struber.

 

We could play Kane and Mowatt or Styles and Mowatt or Styles and Kane or Kane and James. I'd like to see two players in central midfield instead of players being shoe horned. As for James. I rate him but I don't think he's the messiah. To be honest I was surprised we signed him.

 

Even though we have had 4 wins in 6 games under Ismael, I am not a fan of 3-4-3. I agree that Adeboyejo has confounded expectations recently and deserves a start, in a front two with Woodrow. I think we look better with an extra body in midfield and am very much in favour of giving Kane a start too, alongside Mowatt and Styles, with Oduor in as left wing-back. I believe that line-up would give us a lot more of the creativity which was sadly lacking against Brentford.
